  • Will Kentucky voters be shut out?

    As I drove down Bardstown Road, a large yard sign caught my eye the other day - "Yes We Can" it touted in big red and blue letters. Beside it another sign - Barack Obama '08.

    It's nice to see folks finding a presidential candidate that they want to support and feeling good enough about it to shout it from their front yard (via signage) to the world.

    The bad thing is that by the time this poor person gets to vote in Kentucky's late May Primary, the decision for the Democratic and Republican party's contenders for the White House will likely already be decided.

  • News anchor says he got his start at CHS

    From watching noon newscasts with his grandmother and reading the weekend Courier-Journal, Daniel Kemp's career path was forged early.

    "Some things that stick out in my mind are watching the 12 p.m. news with my Grandma when she kept me during the summer when I was young, and my dad always having and reading the weekend Courier-Journal in the mornings.

    "I remember him telling me when I was younger that I should read the paper - it's always good to know what's going on everywhere else."

  • Scott-Sharpe

    Jessica Scott and Tyler Sharpe will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, March 8 at Fry Baptist Church.

    Scott is the daughter of Caroline Scott and the late Johnny Holly.

    She is a 2005 graduate of Taylor County High School and is currently attending Campbellsville University. Scott is employed at Green Hill Manor.

    Sharpe is the son of James and Peggy Sharpe.

    He is a 2002 graduate of Green County High School and a 2006 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College. Sharpe is employed at James Sharpe and Son Cedar Mill.

    The couple is building their home in Greensburg.

  • Three district champs fall at girls' region

    It's normally an advantage to win the district tournament championship game. But, don't try telling that to three of the teams who won those titles on Friday, but were eliminated on Monday and Tuesday in the first round of the Fifth Region Girls' Tournament at North Hardin.

    The upset trend began when 19th District runner-up Nelson County bested 18th District champion Green County 74-67 on Monday in the tourney's first game in Ron Bevars Gymnasium in Radcliff.

  • Cox celebrates birthday

    Benjamin Shaw Cox, son of Benji and Kara Cox of Newnan, Ga., was 1 year old on Dec. 29. He had a celebration with friends and family. He is the grandson of Mike and Peggy Ware and Barry and Lucy Cox, all of Campbellsville, and Doug and Jamie Withers of Bonita Springs, Fla. He also has a big brother, Peyton Back.

  • CU searches for art scholarship recipients

    Campbellsville University is searching for talented high school seniors to compete for two art scholarships worth a total of $12,000.

    The university's annual art scholarship competition and workshop will be Saturday, April 5 beginning at 9 a.m. in room 100 of the new art building across from Gosser Fine Arts Center on campus.

    Performance grant scholarships will also be awarded to other students who might not be chosen for the competitive art scholarships.
