It's funny how far two dollars will go.

For sports teams and other extracurricular groups at City Schools, it may not be how far $2 will take them but the psychological boost knowing they may not have to raise that much more just to participate for their school.

In January, a Campbellsville Board of Education proposal was floated that traveling groups from City Schools would have to pay $3.86 a mile for bus travel.

Ice cubes floating in water. Rust on a vehicle. A rock slide. Science is everywhere. Anthony Farris knows that and so do his students at Campbellsville Elementary School.

"I try to look beyond what I see and think about the scientific aspect."

Farris, 47, said he strives to get his students to think that way, too.

"I want them to not just see what's there, but to think deeper, to think about the how and why."

Taylor County's jail likely won't open until August, nearly three months later than originally planned.

At last week's regular Fiscal Court meeting, Magistrate James Jones told the Court that rain and other winter weather has slowed construction.

On behalf of the Court's Detention Center Committee, the Committee overseeing construction, Jones told magistrates that the completion date of the center is now expected to be Aug. 11.

A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with selling cocaine after he was stopped by the police.

Travis Owens, 28, of 404 Clem Haskins Blvd. was arrested at 2:47 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12.

According to Owens' arrest citation, he was pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Records state Owens gave Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Dickens permission to search him and his vehicle.

After searching Owens, Dickens found crack cocaine and marijuana.
