It was several ago when Steven Benningfield decided to take over Bob and Nell Wise's pumpkin operation. He and his wife and children would grow them if his parents, R.L. and Imogene Benningfield, would sell them.
To sweeten the venture for his parents, Steven offered a deal.
"My parents had never had a vacation," he said. "I told them that if we made some money [selling pumpkins], we'd go on a vacation."
That fall, they took their first-ever vacation to Tennessee.
