On Feb. 17, Paul Malone of Campbellsville was named first runner-up in the senior division of the 51st Annual Kentucky Auctioneer Association Bid Calling Contest.

Malone is principal broker/principal auctioneer of Malone Realty & Auction Co. Inc., 211 E. First St.

This year's contest, in conjunction with the KAA Convention, was in Bowling Green. The contest is open to all Kentucky auctioneers who are members of the KAA.

Campbellsville Elementary fourth grade students and teachers celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing as if they were 100 years old. Fourth grade teachers are Kaye Agathen, Anthony Farris, Garnetta Murrell and Doretha Sanders.

Taylor County Magistrates approved an agreement last week to apply for federal grant money to purchase new voting machines.

Magistrates met in a special called Fiscal Court meeting last Wednesday afternoon.

According to Taylor County Treasurer Melissa Williams, the agreement was sent to the state board of elections to apply for $90,000 in grant money.

Taylor County Clerk Mark Carney said this agreement does not mean the County will be purchasing new machines this year.

College-hopeful high school students can take the ACT college admission and placement exam on April 12, the next nationwide test date. The registration postmark deadline is March 7.

The registration fee is $30 for the traditional ACT (without the writing test) and $44.50 for the ACT Plus Writing. The late registration postmark deadline is March 21. An additional $19 fee is required for late registration.

Students can obtain registration information and materials from their high school guidance counselors' office, or they can register on ACT's Web site at www.actstudent.org.
