  • Thomas, Clark honored with wedding shower

    Shannon Thomas and Chris Clark were honored with a wedding shower on Feb. 24.   • Williams celebrates

    George Williams recently celebrated his "21st birthday" with a birthday bash at Ponderosa.

    Williams was born on Leap Year Day in 1924. He has been the owner of two service stations, a Greyhound Bus station, was a Campbellsville City Police officer and a Taylor County Metro Police officer. Williams retired as Taylor County jailer. He is also retired from the Central Kentucky News-Journal, where he was a driver for 32 years.

    Traveling and fishing now take up most of Williams' time. Most mornings he can be found visiting with the other men-about-town in local restaurants.

    While it may often be unfair, elected officials are held to a higher accountability than the average person. Their character, their pasts, their integrity - all are intensely scrutinized.

    Look, for example, at the current presidential campaign. If what's going on in newspapers and on television stations across the country isn't intense scrutiny we don't know what is.

  • CU students spend time abroad on African safari

    One of the most enjoyable and life-changing experiences college students can participate in is a study-abroad program.

    Campbellsville University offers numerous study-abroad experiences across the world, including programs in Spain, France, Italy, England, Australia, Mexico, Chile, Peru and the Dominican Republic.

    "The opportunity to see and experience Kenya on safari was unforgettable," said Dr. Scott Wigginton, associate professor of pastoral ministries and counseling at Campbellsville University.

  • Jeffries-Hunt

    Kerry and Lisa Jeffries of Greensburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Amey Michelle Jeffries, to Joey Hunt, the son of Jeannie and Tim Davis and Doug and Roxie Hunt, all of Campbellsville.

    Jeffries is the granddaughter of Sonya Jeffries and the late William "Billy" Jeffries and William and Lucille Ervin.

    She is a 1997 graduate of Green County High School, a 2000 graduate of Western Kentucky University and a 2007 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College. Jeffries is employed at Amazon.com.

  • Snow daze

    Taylor County residents saw nearly 5 inches of snow fall this weekend, more than in several years.

    Ronnie Dooley, Taylor County Emergency Management's public information coordinator, said the snow didn't cause any major problems, with reported accidents this weekend totaling only one or two.

    That figure, he said, is actually low for any typical day in Taylor County.

  • CU organ recital is March 13

    Dr. Wesley Roberts, professor of music at Campbellsville University, will give a faculty organ recital Thursday, March 13 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel on the Campbellsville University campus.

    Roberts will perform major works by J.S. Bach, Kees Weggelaar, Olivier Messiaen and Cesar Franck.

    The public is invited to the free recital.
