  • Renovations around the corner for City Schools

    Campbellsville Schools could begin work on renovations as early as June.

    Members of the Campbellsville Board of Education approved the final plans for the work at their meeting Monday night. The total cost for the renovations is budgeted at $5,294,706.

    The Board expects to receive approval to advertise for construction bids by April 22 and to open those bids on May 20.

    For that reason, there will be a special meeting of the Board to approve the bids on Friday, May 23 at 11:15 a.m. A bond sale to finance the construction is set for June 5.

  • Police search for LaRue teen missing since March 28

    Hodgenville City Police are issuing a public appeal for help in finding a 17-year-old girl who left home March 28.

    Stacey Lynn Locke is believed to have run away from home with 24-year-old Douglas "Bubby" Hert, said Lt. Steve Johnson.

    "She didn't like her mom's rules about staying away from him," Johnson said.

    Stacey's name has been entered into the state's missing persons system and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is printing a flyer with her photo, Johnson said.

  • Business man charged with operating a crime ring

    A Campbellsville businessman has been arrested and charged with operating a crime ring.

    According to a Kentucky State Police report, Barry D. Burton, 48, was arrested Thursday, April 10 at 1:46 p.m. at Burton's Pawn Shop in Campbellsville.

    Burton owns and operates the store.

    The report states Burton was charged with engaging in organized crime/criminal syndication as the result of an ongoing burglary investigation in Taylor, Green, Marion and Washington counties.

  • Survey will help improve transportation

    The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking input from local drivers about how to improve state roads in Campbellsville.

    The Cabinet's Division of Planning is conducting a small urban area study of Campbellsville. The study will include an analysis of existing traffic conditions and safety issues that are on the state routes in Campbellsville.

  • County considers fire substations

    County residents will soon get the chance to voice their opinions about building fire substations and establishing a fire taxing district in Taylor County.

    Magistrates agreed Tuesday night at a special Fiscal Court meeting to support having public meetings to discuss the possibility.

    Taylor County Firewise Board member Tom Fisher addressed the Court about the substations and the possibility of establishing a fire taxing district.

    Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers said the substations could help residents save money on their homeowner's insurance premiums.

  • Birth Announcements

    Curtis and Amber Ervin of Lebanon announce the birth of a daughter, Peyton Karis, at 8:21 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She weighed 10 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Grandparents are Kathy and Glenn Vance of Campbellsville, Darrell and Patricia Priddy of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Zerelda Ervin of Greensburg and Terry and Lisa Ervin of Edmonton.

    Great-grandparents are Vontress and Gladys Jones of Campbellsville.

  • McCorkle-Burris

    Beth Ann McCorkle and Colt Austin Burris, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 3.

    McCorkle is the daughter of Tim McCorkle of Canmer and Shelly Stearman of Magnolia. Her grandparents are Joe McCorkle and Shirley Meredith, both of Munfordville, and the late Leigh Dorris Butcher and Shelby Meredith.

    She is a 2002 graduate of LaRue County High School and is employed at Caf Bonin.
