  • Eagles clobber Cardinals 9-1 on diamond

    Campbellsville High school took advantage of five Taylor County errors and rolled past the visiting Cardinals 9-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

    After Taylor County failed to score in the first when its first two hitters (Chance Walls and Chase Roution) reached on walks, the Eagles tallied two unearned runs in the second and never trailed.

    Aaron Schwoebel's one-out single moved Taylor Levi, who reached on an error to third where he scored on Adam Simmons' infield single.

    A walk to Kyle Martin loaded the bases and Tyler Finn's free pass made it 2-0.

  • Deputy, clerk attend conference

    Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy William Walsh and Taylor County Clerk Mark Carney recently attended a conference in Lexington. Walsh attended the Kentucky's Victim Assistance Conference, which is designed to provide free training and networking opportunities for providers and victims. The conference was coordinated by the Office of the Attorney General and Cabinet for Justice and Public Safety. Carney attended the Kentucky County Clerks Legislative meeting.

  • What's your idea of decent?

    Everyone should have a decent place to sleep at night. But, apparently, some individuals' definition of "decent" leaves a lot to be desired.

    At Monday's Campbellsville City Council meeting, City Building Official Kenny Phillips reported that several people have complained to the City recently about the condition of their rental home.

  • 4-H Camp applications now available

    It is now time for youth ages 9 to 14 to register to attend 4-H Camp this summer. The camping date is set for Monday, June 30 through Thursday, July 3.

    Taylor County will attend the Lake Cumberland 4-H Camp. Adults and teens are needed to attend as cabin leaders and activity presenters. So consider attending camp with your child or grandchild. Adults attend for free since they serve as chaperones.

  • UCB donates to hospital walking track

    Taylor Regional Hospital is planning to construct a walking track behind the hospital for community use and United Citizens Bank has donated $500 to help in the construction.

    Water and electricity are also going to be installed, according to TRH CEO Jane Wheatley, so it can also be used for different events.

    The track is being built completely with community donations.

  • Cox named best news anchor

    Lexington NBC affiliate WLEX-TV has been honored with nine first-place 2008 Kentucky Associated Press Broadcaster Awards among Class One TV stations.

    The winners were announced recently during a ceremony at the Radisson Hotel in Lexington.

    WLEX anchor Nancy Cox, a Campbellsville native, was named Best News Anchor in Kentucky, while Sarah Lane was chosen Best Reporter in the state. And LEX18.com received the nod for the Best Web site in the state.
