  • OLPH hosts 'Walk for the Holy Innocents'

    Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Campbellsville hosted its third annual Walk for the Holy Innocents on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event began at the Central Kentucky Crisis Pregnancy Center and ended at the church with a reception. Participants heard guest speakers and walked a mile in support of the dignity of  human life.

  • 'Meet the Authors' event is Nov. 18 at St. Catharine College

    Students, staff and faculty of St. Catharine College will celebrate books with several special events from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18.

    The afternoon kicks off with SCC students displaying the books they have written and hand-bound in Lourdes Hall, Room L-3 from 1 to 3 p.m., as part of an interdisciplinary class looking at the intricacies of how a book begins with an idea and then progresses to a finished volume.

  • TRH donates to local food pantry

    Taylor Regional Hospital employees collected a total of 3,256 items for the local food pantry, including 3,119 boxes of macaroni and cheese and 137 boxes of cake mix. Following are the winners: Cath Lab, first place, with 129.75 items per team member; Information Technology department, second place, with 94.67 items per team member; and Orthopedics, Physician Services, Physicians for Women, Pulmonary, Urology team, third place, with 21.89 items per team member. Calvin Burris picked up the items while Gary Neat, Bill Manners and Greg Rice helped load and unload the items.

     

  • Fort Knox Federal director named outstanding volunteer

    Reba Watson, past chairman of the Fort Knox Federal Credit Union's board of directors, received the Steve Brody Outstanding Volunteer Award presented by the Kentucky Credit Union League during the 75th Annual State Meeting and Conference in Ft. Mitchell.

    "This is a great honor and recognizes the hard work, dedication and leadership abilities of Reba while serving on our Board," said current Board Chairman, J. Marvin Hawk.

  • CU to air Senate candidate interviews

    Campbellsville University is offering the community the opportunity to see and hear the two candidates for District 14 of the Kentucky State Senate - State Rep. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, Ky., and former State Rep. Jodie Haydon, the Democratic candidate from Bardstown, in the Dec. 8 special election.

    Higdon and Haydon are being interviewed by John Chowning, vice president for church and external relations and executive assistant to the president, on his CU television show "Dialogue on Public Issues." 

  • Update: Man killed in crash on I-65

    Those who knew him say he was jovial, athletic and loved life.

    Campbellsville resident Adam Bowen died after a collision early Sunday morning on I-65 in Hart County.

    Bowen's funeral is at 4 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

    Bro. Brian Rafferty and the Rev. Dave Walters will officiate.

    On Tuesday, Rafferty said Bowen will be missed by many.

    "He was the type of person if you ever met him, you wouldn't forget him."

  • Grace Notes

    A patient of the late Dr. Paul Brand had serious and painful circulation problems in his leg, but refused an amputation.

    As his pain increased, so did his bitterness until finally he couldn't stand it any longer and told Dr. Brand, "Cut it off!"

    However, he wanted his leg preserved in a pickling jar so he could put it on the mantle where he could taunt it - 'Ha! You can't hurt me anymore!"

  • Allen

    Ronnie and Brenda Allen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 28.

    A reception is planned for the Allens from 2 to 5 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, located at 317 E. Main St.

    They were married on Dec. 4, 1959, by the Rev. D.L. Druin at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

    The event will be hosted by their three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan and Linda Allen, Jon and Marcia Allen and Brent and Kym Allen.

    Following nine weeks of training, Seaman Joshua Aaron Ford graduated from the Navy on Oct. 29 in Great Lakes, Ill.

    Joshua Eastridge of Campbellsville has been selected for membership in the Berea College concert choir.

    Ruth Gilbert, 75, of Campbellsville died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, in Bowling Green, after an illness.

    Peggy Taylor Hubbard, 46, of Tammie Trail, Campbellsville, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Campbellsville.
