  • Campbellsville man arrested in Hodgenville

    A Campbellsville man was arrested and charged with several traffic offenses in Hodgenville last week.

    Richard K. Rakes, 18, of Fairview Drive in Campbellsville was charged with speeding, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and three counts of second-degree wanton endangerment.

    According to police, Rakes was clocked driving 103 mph in a 55 mph zone on Lincoln Parkway on April 11. Rakes had three teenage passengers in his vehicle.

    He was lodged in the LaRue County jail and will be arraigned in LaRue District Court.

    Sonja Annette Vitatoe, 38, of Hickory Lane in Russell Springs, speeding, no new violations, defendant stipulated probable cause, dismissed.

  • UPDATETwo die in KY 210 crash

    Two people are dead following a two-vehicle crash on KY 210 at about 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Department report, Eddie A. Propes, 54, of Yosemite was driving a 1998 Isuzu cab and box truck east on KY 210 when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 1994 Peterbilt tractor trailer driven by Timothy L. Alley, 41, of Columbia. Propes' truck caught fire after the collision.

    Julie Wright will celebrate her 80th birthday with a reception given in her honor on Sunday.

    Anthony Humphress has been named an admissions assistant for the 1998-1999 year at Transylvania University.

    Members of the Campbellsville High School Future Homemakers of America went to Louisville for the state meeting April 6-9.

    Boy Scout Troop 359 went on an Easter Bunny hike on April 11, covering 10.3 miles along with Windy Eastridge and North Loop trails at Green River Lake State Park.

  • Forcht Bank names new board member

    Forcht Bank announced recently the selection of Fran Fuson to the group's board of directors.

    Fuson has been employed with Forcht Bank for more than 15 years and currently serves as the bank's chief credit officer, overseeing all lending functions for the bank. Before coming to Forcht Bank, Fuson worked as a national bank examiner with the Office of Comptroller of the Currency, Birmingham.

    Fuson, a native of Williamsburg now living in Lexington, is a graduate of the University of the Cumberlands and the Graduate School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma.

  • Jude-Munford

    Elizabeth Ann Jude and Joshua David Munford, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 10.

    Jude is the daughter of Calvin and Tammy Jude of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Patrick and Barbara Moore of Campbellsville.

    She is a 2006 graduate of Campbellsville High School and is employed at Richerson Chiropractic.

  • Auxiliary volunteers recognized

    Taylor Regional Hospital hosted an appreciation luncheon for Auxiliary volunteers on April 1. Jane Wheatley, CEO, spoke to the group and recognized their commitment and contributions to Taylor Regional Hospital.

    With 56 workers, the Auxiliary gave 6,607.75 volunteer hours in 2007 to assist Taylor Regional Hospital by working at the information desk, surgery department, emergency department, radiology department, cancer center, greeting station and gift shop.

  • Blood drive is April 18

    The Kentucky Blood Center is encouraging eligible blood donors to give at an upcoming blood drive and to bring a new blood donor along.

    Not only will blood donors help save the lives of Kentucky patients, they also will receive a free mini-physical.

    The next opportunity to donate will be Friday, April 18 at Forcht Bank on East Broadway from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Search is on for outstanding older worker

    Experience Works, the nation's largest training and employment organization for mature workers, is searching for Kentucky's outstanding older worker. Experience Works Prime Time Awards program is part of Experience Works' national effort to raise awareness of the contributions made by older individuals and to break down barriers associated with the hiring of all older workers. Outstanding older workers from every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will be honored in Washington, D.C., and in their home states for their contributions to the workforce and local communities.

  • GRM to host groundbreaking ceremony

    Last summer, Green River Ministries was approved for a $356,610 USDA grant and loan. GRM officials were presented with a check last August and will close on the grant/loan April 14.

    In honor of the closing, GRM is planning a groundbreaking ceremony for Wednesday, April 23 at 2 p.m.

    With the grant/loan funds, GRM plans to build an 8,000-square-foot building that will include an office complex to create a "one-stop shop" for those in the community to go to in their time of need. The new building will increase shelter capacity from one unit to five units.
