  • Food pantry faces shortage

    Every month, about 250 Taylor Countians look to the local food pantry to help feed their families. However, with funds running low, the pantry is about a month away from halting services.

    At the moment, the pantry has about $4,000 dollars on hand, said Taylor County Ministerial Association President Michael Goodwin. The ministerial association oversees the pantry.

    With an average weekly expense of $1,000, Goodwin said, there is only enough money to provide food to the needy for one more month.

  • TRH holds health fair

    Taylor Regional Hospital hosted a community health fair on Saturday, April 19. There were 400 individuals who attended, with 170 receiving the free blood testing.

  • 100th birthday

    Bea Wethington of Chatham, La., formerly of Campbellsville, celebrated her 100th birthday on April 2.

    She was given a party by her two daughters, Melva Beard of Chatham and Martha McCubbin of Campbellsville.

    "I got close to 100 birthday cards," Wethington said by telephone. "I haven't counted them yet. Some of them even had notes in them."

  • Pogue-Hunt engagement

    April Nycole Pogue and Patrick Hunt, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, April 26.

    Pogue is the daughter of Jeffrey Pogue of Louisville and Leisha and John Barke of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are James and Joyce Pogue of Louisville, Lora Mae Dudgeon of Campbellsville and the late Ray Dudgeon. Great-grandparents are Lee and Rose Pogue of Campbellsville.

    She is a 2002 graduate of Taylor County High School, attended Lindsey Wilson College and is employed at Amazon.com.

  • CBC begins 'Get a Life' sermon series

    Campbellsville Baptist Church begins a special five-week sermon series, "Get a Life!" this weekend.

    Worship services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m., with small group Bible study at 9:45. A nursery is provided.

  • 'Go Tell' kick off rally is Monday

    A rally Monday evening will kick off the South Central Kentucky Go Tell Crusade with Rick Gage.

    A drop-in reception will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the rally set for 7 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel on the campus of Campbellsville University.

    Gage will be guest speaker at the Crusade that is planned for Sept. 14-17 at the Campbellsville High School Football Stadium.

    Organizers are expecting a large turnout from Taylor, Adair, LaRue, Casey, Green and Marion counties.

  • Pageant will benefit Green County Junior Miss

    Green County Junior Miss will host a spring Mr. and Ms. Sunburst pageant on Saturday, April 26.

    Categories will be available for boys ages 6 months to 4 years and girls ages 6 months to 18 years.

    Registration is $20 with additional categories for best hair, best dress, most photogenic, prettiest smile and prettiest eyes for $5 each.

    Prizes will be awarded to the winner, first runner-up, second runner-up and individual winners.

    The pageant will begin at 10 p.m. ET at Greensburg Elementary School. Participants may register up to 30 minutes before the pageant.

  • Workshop for veterans offered April 25

    A workshop for veterans of all military services will be offered Friday, April 25.

    The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. at 1425 Old Hodgenville Road and is for veterans and their significant others.

    A national service officer will be available to answer questions. Lunch will be served.
