  • Ladies Night Out is July 24

    The annual Ladies Night Out event sponsored by the Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and the School of Business and Economics at Campbellsville University is set for Thursday, July 24.

    The event is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and the theme is musicals.

    Cost is $15 per person. Tables will consist of eight people. Those who attend should decorate their table according to a musical theme. This year, organizers are allowing any woman who is not taking part to attend.

  • Truck crashes into store

    A Campbellsville man drove his truck into a store window Friday afternoon while trying to avoid another vehicle.

    According to a Campbellsville Police report, Anthony W. Rogers, 52, was driving his 1993 Ford F-150 along Main Street when he swerved to avoid hitting a stopped vehicle. His truck crossed the roadway and drove into the front window of Murphy's Sleep Center. The collision occurred at 4:05 p.m.

    No one was injured.

    Campbellsville Police Officer Andy Warren investigated.

  • Court says no to more EDA money

    Magistrates had first reading of a nearly $9 million 2008-2009 fiscal year budget at last night's regular Fiscal Court meeting.

    The budget includes 3 percent raises for County employees and increases in insurance, gasoline and other general operating costs.

    Magistrates were asked to consider two budgets - one with only the 3 percent increases and another with additional employee salary and other funding increases.

  • CU dedicates Gosser Gymnasium

    A deep love of students, coaches, faculty and staff at Campbellsville University has resulted in the Gosser Gymnasium, which was dedicated April 22.

    Dr. Donnie Gosser, a member of the CU Board of Trustees, and his wife, Anna, of Elizabethtown, made the lead gift toward the construction of the new gym, which will serve the entire campus. It is located at the back of Powell Athletic Center.

    Gosser said he was appreciative of what CU's staff, faculty, coaches and administration do.

  • Heart of Kentucky youth festival is Saturday

    Children can learn discipline and the exciting and interesting aspects of martial arts at the Heart of Kentucky Youth Festival presented by John Cox Martial Arts.

    Hosted at Centre Square in downtown Lebanon, the festival will have slides and bouncers, a race car display, model airplanes, a karate photography studio, Stranger Danger classes, arts and crafts, martial arts demonstrations, four-wheeler safety exhibit, a rock wall climb, helicopter display, food and hot air balloon rides, weather permitting.

  • Liberty car show is May 24

    Downtown Liberty will come alive on Saturday, May 24 as it remembers the 1950s and 1960s through a classic car show, games, entertainment, food and music.

    Beginning at noon, a classic car show, sponsored by the Casey County Cruisers, will liven up the courthouse square until 5 p.m. Trophies and cash awards will be given for the best in several class divisions.

  • Reunion for USS America veterans is June 24-28

    The USS America Carrier Veterans Association will host its sixth bi-annual reunion to reunite the crew of the USS America on June 24-28.

    The reunion will be at the Crown Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel in Jacksonville, Fla.

    Guests will include a representative from the office of the Secretary of the Navy and Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund.

  • Public library celebrates National Library Week
