  • Veteran thanks those involved with Vietnam ceremony

    I would like to thank all the following for your help and support in any way for the 50th anniversary Vietnam veterans welcome home.

    First and foremost, a special thank you to each of the Vietnam veterans that came out for the parade.

    Next, I would like to thank the committee, State Rep. John "Bam" Carney, R-Campbellsville, Taylor County Judge/Executive Eddie Rogers, Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young, Charlie Shaw, Larry Smith and Calen McKinney.

  • Resident charged with theft

     

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with theft.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, for the past few months, deputies have investigated complaints of thefts in Taylor County.

    Last Monday, deputies arrested Brandon Edelen, 27, and charged him with theft by unlawful taking more than $10,000, receiving less than $10,000 in stolen property, being a persistent felony offender and violating parole.

    The investigation into the thefts is ongoing and more charges are expected.

  • Lady Eagles lose thrice in own tourney

     

    Campbellsville High's Lady Eagles lost its three games as they hosted the Food Pantry Classic Dec. 20-22 in Paul J. Coop Gymnasium.

    Neena Barnett (15 points), Keena Angel (12), above left, and Vonnea Smith (11) scored in double figures vs. West Jessamine (51-44) while Kiyah Barnett had 12 vs. Whitley County (55-43) and Brenna Wethington 10 vs. Henry County (35-27).

    John Hardin defeated Green County 50-30 in the championship game.

  • Eagles square record at 4-4

    Campbellsville out-scored Green County 17-12 in the third period and 16-14 in the final frame to claim a 51-47 road victory vs. Green County on Dec. 22.
    Coach Tim Davis’ club squared its record at 4-4 before the 20th Campbellsville Holiday Classic over the weekend.
    Senior Damontez Smith again paced the Eagles with 16 points while junior A.J. Vaught claimed a game-high 12 rebounds, 9 defensively.
    Junior Chad Emmons led the Dragons with 16 points and also pulled down seven rebounds.

  • CU hoop teams head to new year with 15-1 worksheets

    The third win was the charm as coach Ginger Colvin picked up her 200th head coaching victory at Campbellsville University when her Lady Tigers bested Montana-Western on the third day of the Las Vegas Classic on Dec. 20.
    The No. 5 Lady Tigers began on Dec. 18 with a 46-40 victory over Carroll College of Montana.
    Lindsey Burd paced Campbellsville with 16 points while Caroline Owen had nine a team-high seven rebounds.
    Westminster (Calif.) was victim number 2 in Las Vegas as CU posted a 56-53 triumph on Dec. 19.
