  • CES student wins poster contest

    Briana Davis, a third-grade student at Campbellsville Elementary School, recently won the "I am a First Responder" statewide poster contest sponsored by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.

    Davis was named champion of the third- to fifth-grade division and will be recognized at the state KASA conference this month at the Galt House in Louisville.

  • Discounted GED testing offered

    Kentucky Adult Education recently announced that eligible adults can take each module of the GED test at a reduced rate of $10, as a result of $20 vouchers being provided to eligible individuals.

    With the use of these vouchers, the cost of a full GED test will be $40. The regular cost of the GED test is $120, so the vouchers represent an $80 savings to test takers.

  • Hart named to Centre College dean's list

    Michael Hart of Campbellsville has been named to the dean's list for the winter/spring terms at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.6 grade point average.

    Hart is the son of Cynthia and Scott Hart of Campbellsville and a graduate of Taylor County High School.

    Centre College, founded in 1819, is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Danville.

    Lewis and Wanda Bertram Weatherford will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception on Sunday, July 25.

    Former Rescue Chief Charles Shaw was honored with a retirement reception Sunday afternoon at Taylor Regional Hospital. Hospital staff members, Campbellsville Mayor Brenda Allen and others presented Shaw with several gifts and remembrances.

  • Birth Announcements for July 17

    Jill B. and Jimmy Sapp of Campbellsville announce the birth of a son, Matthew James Sapp, at 9:30 a.m. on June 30 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Lyle and Beverly Burchell of Bradfordsville, Mike and Alicia Sapp of Campbellsville and the late Wanda Sapp Bell.

    Great-grandparent is Manuel Marlow of Lebanon.

  • Connexions Triathlon scheduled for Aug. 2

    Campbellsville/Taylor County Trail Town will host its second Connexions Triathlon on Aug. 2 at Green River Lake State Park. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the event starts at 8:30.

    The race will begin at the Lone Valley pavilion with a three-mile boat paddle along the GRL shore. Next will be a 20-mile bike ride through the park and last is a 5K run/walk along the road leading to the Lone Valley ramp area.
