  • McMahan-Chewning

    Stephanie McMahan and Jordan Chewning, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 31.

    McMahan is the daughter of Keith and Marilyn McMahan of Campbellsville. Her grandmother is Margaret McMahan of Campbellsville.

    She is a 2002 graduate of Taylor County High School and a 2007 graduate of St. Catharine College. McMahan is employed as a registered nurse at Taylor Regional Hospital.

  • Ritchie celebrates birthday

    Piper Ritchie celebrated her second birthday with family and friends recently at Mr. Gatti's. She is the daughter of Mark Ritchie and Rachel Skaggs. Her grandparents are Kathy and Guy Ritchie and Tammy and Terry Skaggs.   • CES recognizes students for AR points

    Campbellsville Elementary students Austin Chandler and Mackenzie Murrell were recognized at an assembly recently for earning 100 Accelerated Reader points. Blair Lamb was also recognized for earning 200 AR points. Chandler and Murrell are in Garnetta Murrell's fourth-grade class and Lamb is in Debbie Baugh's third-grade class.

  • Shively discusses medical mission work at CU

    Dr. Eugene Shively, a Taylor Regional Hospital surgeon, discussed his many medical mission trips at Campbellsville University's chapel service recently.

    Shively has aided in several medical missions during his years as a doctor. He visited Cameroon in 2000; Jamaica three times during 2001 and 2002; Togo, a part of West Africa, in 2003; Kenya in 2005; St. Vincent's Island and the Grenadines, located in the Caribbean Sea, in 2006 and the Galpagos Islands in 2007.

  • Celebration of Hope

    A group of ladies get together once a year to attend the Celebration of Hope in Frankfort at the Capitol. The celebration, which honors breast cancer survivors, features a luncheon and entertainment provided by the Governor and First Lady. More than 1,000 ladies from all over Kentucky attended this year's event.   • Thompson-Parsons

    Miranda Carol Thompson and David Brandon Parsons, both formerly of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Thursday, May 22.

    Thompson is the daughter of Denise and DeWayne Squires and Phillip D. Thompson, all of Campbellsville. Her grandparents are Carol Becker and Robert E. and Jewell Squires, all of Campbellsville, Josephine Mann of Louisville and the late John Becker, William B. Mann and Earl and Alma Thompson.

  • City schools eliminate associate principals

    Budget cuts will eliminate associate principal positions this fall in the Campbellsville Independent School District.

    However, teachers and other staff will still get the state-mandated 1 percent raise.

    The tentative 2008-2009 budget approved by School Board members Monday night totals $9.95 million, down from this year's $10.7 million. It includes a 133 percent increase in diesel fuel costs, a projected 15 percent increase in utilities and the possible elimination of several grant-funded positions.

    Jessica Lee Smith and David Allen Sublett, both of Campbellsville, will exchange wedding vows on Saturday, May 24.

    Smith is the daughter of Jeffery and Rebecca Smith of Mayfield. Her grandparents are Nancy Smith of Mayfield and the late Donald Smith and Texil and Mary Pyle.

    She is a 2007 graduate of Campbellsville University.

    Sublett is the son of Robert and Peggy Sublett of Campbellsville. His grandparents are the late Lester and Leona Reed and James and Beatrice Sublett.

    He is also a 2007 graduate of Campbellsville University.
