  • Clerk's audit accurate, auditor says

    State Auditor Crit Luallen recently released the annual audit of the Taylor County Clerk's office for the year ended Dec. 31, 2007.

    The audit found County Clerk Mark Carney's financial statement to fairly represent the revenues, expenses and excess fees of the Taylor County Clerk's Office.

    Luallen's audit states that the Clerk's office lacks adequate segregation of duties.

  • "August Gala" event is Aug. 28

    An "August Gala" featuring dancing by Campbellsville residents has been planned for Thursday, Aug. 28.

    The event, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will feature dancing by Joel Bennett, Dave and Debbie Nunery, Todd Sharp, Rob Carter, Sparky Taylor and others.

    Those wishing to attend should bring their lawn chairs. The event will be inside the courtyard at Grandview nursing home. The event will be moved inside for bad weather.

    Trena Gayle Wilson and Jamie Russell Smith, both of Campbellsville, exchanged wedding vows on Friday, June 6 at Twin Eagles Estates in Lebanon.

    Bro. Don Gowin performed the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Roger and Judy Wilson of Campbellsville.

    The groom is the son of Henry and Kelly Smith of Campbellsville and Patti and Bill Hartman of Hanover, Ind.

    The outdoor wedding ceremony took place on the lawn, which was scattered with white rose petals.

  • Eastern Star Pins

    Peggy Pyles, associate matron of Pitman Chapter #157, Order of the Eastern Star, congratulates Norma Swafford and Nadine Milsap on receiving their 50-year membership pins. Also receiving pins, but not pictured, were Pearl Blevins, Florence Curry, Ruby English, Mildred Gabehart, Gertrude Mizer and Kathryn Smith. The chapter meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

  • Barnett Anniversary

    Richard and Virginia Barnett of Campbellsville celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 2.

    The Barnetts were married on Aug. 6, 1948.

    The event took place at Campbellsville Country Club. It was hosted by their son and daughter, Ricky Barnett and Elizabeth Sanders.

  • Bland beats Super Late Model Ponderosa field

    Jordan Bland captured the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model feature at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City on Friday night.

    Other feature winners were Gerald Haynes Jr. in the SkyTower Power Race Engines Sportsman division race ($500 to win), Benji Lee of Raywick in Hardee's Modifieds and P.J. Feistritzer of Danville in Kentucky National Guard Pro Late Models.

    The 25-lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event saw the caution wave before a complete lap was scored for a spin by Larry Gray in turn four.

    The Rev. Paul Bader of Gray, Tenn. performed the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Richard and Linda RoBards of Campbellsville.

    The groom is the son of the late Herbert Feige Jr.

    Emma Louise Feige of Louisville served as matrimonial witness.

    Bree Russell and Mallory Russell, both of Bowling Green, served as the flower girls.

    A dinner reception followed the ceremony.

  • Bible Baptist Tabernacle hosts 'God and Country Sunday'

    Bible Baptist Tabernacle of Campbellsville hosted a special "God and Country Sunday" on Aug. 3. Missionary Chaplain Joe Adams, who has ministered to state and local officials for more than 25 years, was the featured speaker.
