  • Campbellsville native lives on the street to help the homeless

     

    Matt Rigsby is a native of Campbellsville, but these days, he’s living in Nashville.

    Life in a larger city like Nashville might sound glamorous to some, but there’s nothing glamorous about what he’s experiencing.

    You see, Matt Rigsby is homeless.

    The 2006 graduate of Taylor County High School is living life on the streets of Nashville, and he’s doing it to help bring attention to the number of homeless people living in the United States today. 

  • Man charged with robbing local bank

     

    A Lexington man is behind bars and charged with robbing a Campbellsville bank.

    Thomas Riley, 51, was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with robbing the Forcht Bank in Green River Plaza, according to a release from the Campbellsville Police Department.

    Riley allegedly robbed the bank and fled the scene in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with an undetermined amount of cash and a handgun. Officers observed the vehicle at the intersection of Broadway and Federal Place and were able to take Riley into custody without incident.

    TCHS bass fishing team hosting chili supper Feb. 13 during TCHS basketball twinbill
    The Taylor County High School bass fishing team will be having a chili supper on Friday, Feb. 13 from 5-8 p.m. as TCHS hosts LaRue County in a girl/boy basketball doubleheader as well as homecoming. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any team member or at the door.

  • Lebanon man arrested after fleeing domestic scene

     

    A Lebanon man is behind bars after attempting to flee the scene of a domestic call.

    Diaz Douglas, 25, of Lebanon, was taken into custody at approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

    Deputy Mark Dickens responded to a domestic call at the intersection of Fairview and Friendship Pike, according to a release from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office. When Dickens arrived, Douglas fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended by sheriff’s deputies moments later on Friendship Pike.

  • Marion County man killed in farming accident

     

    A Marion County man was killed after he became trapped in a grain bin at 911 Merrimac Road in Bradfordsville around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

    Joseph Gary Blanford, 64, of Holy Cross, had climbed into the bin to attempt to unclog the auger when the soybeans caved in on top of him, causing him to be buried in the soybeans, according to a press release from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office.

    Blanford was pronounced dead by Taylor County Coroner Terry Dabney at the scene. Dabney said Blanford died as a result of asphyxia.
