  • KSP accepting applications for citizens police academy

    Kentucky State Police Post 15 is now accepting applications for the 2013 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy.

    The 10-week academy is slated to begin Monday, May 6, and will meet every Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. through graduation on Monday, July 8.

    Attendees will learn about the many facets of the KSP to include classroom topics such as criminal patrol, criminal investigations and drug investigations. Participants will also take part in simulated traffic stops, crime scene scenarios and evidence collection.

  • Kentucky State Police Statistics

    During the month of March, there were 21 traffic collisions investigated by Kentucky State Police troopers working in the Post 15 area, which includes Taylor, Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell and Washington counties.

    There were two fatal collisions during the month of March in the Post 15 area.

    Norma Dickerson of Liberty was killed in Casey County on March 14.

    Melena Capps of Tompkinsville was killed in Metcalfe County on March 31.

  • Food Inspections for April 25

    The following businesses were inspected by the Lake Cumberland District Health Department using the scale below.

    • 85 to 100, pass inspection.

    • 70 to 84, business must be reinspected within 30 days.

    • Less than 70, a suspension of permit notice is sent to owner; if owner doesn't reply within 10 days, the permit will be revoked and the business will be closed.

  • One injured in KY 70 crash

    A Taylor County teenager was injured in a one-vehicle crash last Wednesday on KY 70.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, Brittany Mattingly, 18, of 3330 Elk Horn Road, was traveling east on KY 70 in a 2002 Ford Focus.

    As Mattingly drove in a curve, the report states, she left the roadway and struck a sign post and then a wire fence.

    Campbellsville/Taylor County EMS personnel transported Mattingly to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment of a neck injury. She was treated and released.

  • Two injured in KY 55 crash

    Two women were injured in a crash last Thursday on KY 55.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, Melissa Rogers, 38, of 900 Old Spurlington Road in Campbellsville, was traveling north on KY 55 at 2:14 p.m.

    According to the report, as Rogers was turning her 2004 Chevrolet van left into a business on KY 55, she turned into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Amanda Weiand, 21, of 5183 Highway 379 in Russell Springs.

  • Summersville man charged with DUI in Taylor County

    A Summersville man has been charged with his third DUI offense.

    Ronnie Dale Meadows, 37, of 624 Quincy Dobson Road, was arrested Saturday, April 13, at 12:29 a.m.

    According to court records, Campbellsville Police Officer Brandon Wilson saw Meadows driving on East Broadway without illuminated headlights.

    Records state that, after Wilson began driving behind him, Meadows drove in the middle of both lanes of traffic.

    After stopping Meadows, Wilson wrote in court records, he smelled alcohol on him.

  • Campbellsville man accused of identity theft

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with stealing another person's identity.

    Justin Denney, 33, of 1458 Smith Chapel Road, was arrested Saturday, April 13, at 4:03 p.m.

    According to court records, Denney allegedly opened four credit cards in the name of a person who has Alzheimer's.

    Records state that, when interviewed, Denney told Campbellsville Police Officer Roy Rodgers that he "possibly" committed the crime but wanted to speak with an attorney.

  • Liberty man accused of burglary

     

    A Liberty man has been arrested and charged with stealing from a Taylor County home.

    According to a Taylor County Sheriff's Office report, deputies received a complaint last Wednesday that a burglary had occurred at a home on Liberty Road at 2 p.m.

    During an investigation, some of the items taken in the robbery were found at a home in Campbellsville.

    Michael Albertson, 19, of Dry Creek, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary. He was lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.

  • Campbellsville man accused of endangering minor

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with endangering a minor by not reporting that the minor had been sexually assaulted.

    Link R. Biggs, 48, of 340 Ebenezer Road, was arrested Friday, April 12, at 4:49 p.m.

    According to Biggs' arrest warrant, he allegedly knew that a minor had been sexually assaulted between Jan. 26 and March 22 and didn't report it or act on the information.

    The warrant states that Biggs also continued to leave the minor with the alleged perpetrator, who is her primary caretaker.
