  • KSP investigating house fire

    Kentucky State Police are investigating the cause of a fire at a home on Friendship Road last Thursday at about 10:30 a.m.

    According to a Taylor County Fire & Rescue news release, firefighters arrived at the scene and found the house about three-fourths involved.

    The owner, David Cowherd, nor any occupants, were at home at the time of the fire.

    Sixteen firefighters were on the scene for about three hours with four apparatus.

  • One injured in South Central crash

    A Campbellsville man was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday.

    According to a Campbellsville Police report, the crash occurred at 7:45 p.m. at South Central Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

    April Brewer, 38, of Campbellsville, was traveling east on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when, according to the report, she pulled from a stopped position into the path of a motorcycle operated by William J. Simpson, 27, of Campbellsville.

  • Woman charged with DUI, bringing drugs into jail

    A Campbellsville woman has been arrested and charged after she allegedly drove drunk and then brought marijuana into the Taylor County Detention Center.

    Suzanne L. Corbo, 25, of 317 Bell Court, was arrested Friday, Feb. 22, at 11:32 p.m.

    According to Corbo's arrest citation, Campbellsville Police received a complaint of someone driving a vehicle without its headlights illuminated.

    • Less than 70, a suspension of permit notice is sent to owner; if owner doesn't reply within 10 days, the permit will be revoked and the business will be closed.

  • Resident charged with sodomy, sexual abuse

     

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with sodomizing and sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.

    Wesley "Wes" W. Gann, 30, of 457 Chaney Pike Road, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

    According to court records, Gann was arrested in Ohio and waived extradition to Kentucky.

    Gann's arrest warrant states that he allegedly engaged in oral sex with the girl and fondled and digitally penetrated her while a 6-year-old boy watched.

  • Resident accused of falsifying unemployment claim

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with falsifying unemployment benefits paperwork and receiving more than $5,000 to which he wasn't entitled.

    James R. Hare, 52, of 627 Spears Road, was arrested Sunday, Feb. 10, at 5:19 p.m.

    According to Hare's arrest warrant, he allegedly made false statements to prevent a reduction in his employment benefits between Nov. 14, 2009, and March 20, 2010.

    The warrant states that Hare received $5,408 in insurance benefits that he shouldn't have.
