  • Man charged with abusing child

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with abusing a child.

    Kevin M. Chaulklin, 36, of Perks Drive, was arrested Sunday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m.

    According to Chaulklin's arrest citation, Kentucky State Police troopers responded to Jane Todd Hospital in Greensburg on Nov. 23 to investigate the possible assault of a 4-year-old girl.

    When arriving at the hospital, the girl's mother told troopers that her daughter had been visiting Chaulklin earlier that day and came home with a very large friction burn on her back.

  • Man charged with DUI

     

    A Campbellsville man has been arrested and charged with allegedly driving a car while under the influence of marijuana.

    Joshua Danell Barbour, 31, of Elm Street, was arrested Friday, Dec. 5, at 12:07 a.m.

    According to Barbour's arrest citation, Campbellsville Police Officer Dexter Colvin stopped him after he allegedly drove through a red traffic light.

    When approaching the vehicle, Colvin wrote in court records, he smelled marijuana coming from inside.

  • Kentucky State Police statistics

    During the month of November, there were 21 motor vehicle collisions investigated by Kentucky State Police troopers working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Taylor, Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell and Washington.

    There were four fatal collisions during the month of November in the Post 15 area. Two were in Green County and the others were in Washington and Metcalfe County.

    This brings the yearly fatality count to 33 compared with 19 through the same period in 2013.

  • Elk Horn man charged with having drugs in jail

     

    An Elk Horn man has been arrested and charged with first-degree promoting contraband after he was allegedly found with drugs while in jail.

    Josh Lewis, 25, of Gaddis Ridge Road, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 20, at about 2:15 a.m.

    According to court records, a deputy at the Taylor County Detention Center contacted Campbellsville Police to report an inmate allegedly having contraband.

    Campbellsville Police Officer Jeromy Burris wrote in court records that the deputy told him he saw an inmate remove something from his pants.

  • Arrest made in vehicle break-ins

     

    Campbellsville Police arrested a person on Saturday at about 5:40 p.m. whom they believe is responsible for a vehicle break-in reported earlier this month.

    John David Smith, 37, of Campbellsville, was arrested and charged with receiving less than $10,000 in stolen property and he was lodged at the Taylor County Detention Center.

    Campbellsville Police are still investigating several other vehicle break-ins that could result in additional charges and arrests.
