Crusade for Children donations are up in Taylor County.
According to firefighter Kenny Phillips, $38,380 was collected locally, up considerably from last year's total of $26,455. Phillips said donations were still trickling in and the total could increase by about $300.
Statewide, the effort raised $5.28 million for special needs children, a slight increase from last year's $5.24 million.
Volunteers who helped with the door-to-door drive during the week and the roadblocks over the weekend were again the key to the fundraiser's success, Phillips said.
