  • CES kindergarten registration is March 19-21

    Registration for kindergarten students entering Campbellsville Independent School for the 2012-2013 school year will be March 19-21.

    Those whose children attend Campbellsville Preschool or Head Start will complete registration there. Children enrolling must be 5 years old by or on Oct. 1.

    Parents with children entering kindergarten in August will need to contact Campbellsville Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents can call 465-4561 to register by phone, or visit the school for enrollment information.

  • TCHS places second at district Governor's Cup


    The Taylor County High School Academic Team placed second in overall points in the District Governor's Cup on Jan. 28 at TCHS.

    The quick recall squad placed second after five rounds, earning a spot in regional competition, which will be Feb. 18 in LaRue County.

  • Shooting claims life of local man


    “We always teased him. He was a big, gentle giant. He was a jokester, a warm and loving jokester.”

    That’s how Madonna Gaddis Chick describes her brother, Eddie Stickel.
    Stickel, 42, of Campbellsville, was shot to death last Saturday.

  • CES names Students of the Week


    Campbellsville Elementary School recently named its Students of the Week.

  • "Cook's Kids" celebrate New Year


    "Cook's Kids" were treated to a New Year's celebration on Friday, Jan. 20, at Taylor County Board of Education's central office annex.

    Cook's Kids is a group of students who participate in a mentor program under the leadership of Taylor County Superintendent Roger Cook.

    Taylor County High School "STAR" students serve as mentors to Cook's Kids participants.

  • Local performs with EKU band


    Jaime Evans of Campbellsville will perform with the Eastern Kentucky University Wind Symphony.

    The group, under the direction of EKU Director of Bands Dr. Joe Allison, will perform a free concert on Friday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the EKU Center for the Arts.

    The concert is part of EKU's annual High School Honors Band Clinic.

    The following day, Saturday, Feb. 25, famed trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra will present a master class for the clinic participants and present a concert at the center.

    Campbellsville Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week.

    They are Diego Noyloa, Bailey Smith and Rylee Petett.

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Writers of the Week for Feb. 3.

    Tuesday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, green beans, peaches, hot rolls and milk with choice of corn dog.

    Wednesday - Chili, cheese slice, crackers, vegetable sticks, applesauce, oatmeal square and milk with choice of pork chop.

  • Dog dumper confesses

    The person responsible for dumping dogs near the Taylor/Marion County line made a call for help and revealed her identity last Thursday.

    According to a Taylor County Animal Shelter report, Christina Gribbins of Marion County called the Taylor County Animal Shelter around 2 p.m. Thursday and asked that someone come remove some dogs she had at her home.
