  • Locals receive EKU dean's award

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced 551 dean's award recipients for the fall 2013 semester and two Campbellsville residents received honors.

    Locals named to the list include Laura Hieneman, a junior English teaching major, and Maridith Willett, a senior occupational science major.

    To earn the dean's award, students must achieve dean's list honors at EKU for three semesters, not necessarily consecutive. A lapel pin is presented to students by the dean of their academic college.

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced that 2,976 students earned dean's list honors for the fall 2013 semester.

  • Despain graduates from EKU

    Eastern Kentucky University recognized 1,111 graduates at the conclusion of the fall 2013 semester, including Russell Taylor Despain of Campbellsville.

    Despain graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in aviation and was recognized at commencement ceremonies on Dec. 14.

    The new degree holders join more than 137,000 Eastern alumni in Kentucky and across the United States and world.

  • Local veterinarian receives El Toro award

     

    Dr. Philip E. Hays has received the El Toro Award for Excellence in Food Animal Medicine from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine for his dedicated and significant body of work in the food animal practice.

    Hays, of Campbellsville, is a 1973 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine. For the past 40 years, he has owned and operated The Animal Hospital of Campbellsville, a mixed animal veterinary practice.

  • CU employees, students serve in winter mission trips

    Campbellsville University

    People in Grand Isle, La., Haiti and Cuba received help from Campbellsville University students and faculty during mission trips over the winter holidays.

    CU students partnered with First Baptist Church of Grand Isle and worked in and around the church, repairing pews, updating the church landscape, etc. Some of the students also participated in leading a worship service on Sunday nights for the members of First Baptist Church.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Writers of the Week for the week of Jan. 27.

    They are third-grader Kylie Meier, fourth-grader grader Caleb Uhles and fifth-graders Amber Baumgardner, Liane Teel and Kaitlin Phillips.

  • TCMS names Students of the Week

     

    Taylor County Middle School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of Jan. 27.

    They are Zach Gibson, Frank Bladen, Deatrick Wilcher, Tyler Perkins, Kaylee Mann and Taylor Anderson.
