    Taylor County Middle School has released its honor roll for the third nine-week grading period. Students listed follow.

    Monday - Scrambled eggs, sausage, baked apples, biscuits and gravy, orange and milk.

    Tuesday - Chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit smoothies and milk.

    Wednesday - Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad with romaine lettuce, tomato slices, garlic bread, fruit cocktail, banana and milk.

    Thursday - Pepperoni pizza, broccoli and dip, corn, applesauce, bug bite cookies and milk.

  • TCES names Good Deed winners

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Good Deed winners for the week of March 18.

  • CU Servant Leaders travel for spring break ministry opportunities

    Nearly 50 Campbellsville University students, faculty and staff members sacrificed spring break for ministry opportunities in Haiti, Florida, New York and Guatemala.

    Two groups went to Haiti, one being the School of Nursing. This was the third medical mission trip to Haiti for the School of Nursing.

  • Car club sponsors scholarship

    The Tri-County Car Club, based in Campbellsville, will award a $500 scholarship to someone pursuing an auto-related career next month.

    The club has members from several counties, including Taylor, and awards the scholarship each year.

    Those interested in the scholarship should send a letter of application by April 30 to Tri-County Car Club, Stan McKinney, 1007 Deer Park, Campbellsville, KY 42718.

  • Local students accept scholarships to EKU

    Hundreds of incoming freshmen and transfer students, including several from Taylor County, have accepted merit-based scholarships to attend Eastern Kentucky University.

    Taylor County recipients include Taylor County High School graduates Mackenzie Lynn Despain and Macayla Denise Bertram, who accepted Founders Scholarships, and TCHS graduate Austin Earl Wise, who accepted a Presidential Scholarship.

    Tuesday - Ham slice, macaroni and cheese, pinto beans, diced pears, wheat roll and milk.

    Wednesday - Corndog, coleslaw, corn on the cob, pineapple tidbits, banana and milk.

    Thursday - Beef tacos, tortilla chips, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, refried beans, applesauce and milk.

  • TCES students reach reading goals

     

    Taylor County Elementary School faculty recently made good on their promise to kiss farm animals if students read 600,000 minutes in a six-week period.

    Students not only met their goal, but exceeded it, having read a total of 642,460 minutes or 10,708 hours.

    TCES Librarian Gail Pippin said, "Here at TCES, we will do almost anything to get our students to read."

    Through the Read to Feed program, students also raised $360 to purchase animals for families around the world to improve their health and way of life.

  • CU teaches TCES students about life in Africa

    Dr. DeWayne Frazier, associate vice president for academic affairs and associate professor of political science at Campbellsville University, and Alpha Rwirangira, a freshman at CU majoring in business and music from Rwanda, spoke at Taylor County Elementary School on African culture and about the book "Beatrice's Goat."

  • CES students learn about Galapagos Islands

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School fourth-grade students learned about Galapagos Islands recently when alum Morgan Murrell presented a program about a trip she took to the islands.

    Students learned about the habit of endangered animals on the islands and saw photos of animals that live on the islands.

    Food, clothing and crafts were also shown as part of Murrell's presentation.

    Murrell is a junior at Western Kentucky University, where she is majoring in dentistry.

    Her trip was part of a Study Abroad Honors Course at WKU.
