• TCMS names Student Leaders of the Week


    Taylor County Middle School recently named its Student Leaders of the Week for the week of Nov. 17.

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of Nov. 24.

    They are freshman Mackenzie Carney, sophomore Kaley Cox, junior Haley Merritt and senior Ashlee Cox.

  • TCMS hosts food drive


    Taylor County Middle School recently hosted a canned food drive. Six hundred and fifty one items were donated.

    Math teacher Matt Humphress organized the drive. Audrey Young, Jesslynne Mann, Matt Humphress, Morgan Melton and Addie Westbrook helped with the drive. They are part of the middle school's Student Leadership Lighthouse Team. Items donated to the drive will be distributed to local families.

  • TCHS students win at national career development event


    Taylor County High School's FFA Chapter was one of 44 teams participating in the National FFA Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event.

    The event was hosted in conjunction with the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo in Louisville.

    The team, led by advisor Ryan Williams, was awarded a bronze emblem.

    Members also competed for individual awards with 171 other participants.

    Allison Brockman received a silver emblem and Alexandra Zimmerman, Kyle Dockery and Bradshaw Smoot received bronze emblems.

  • TCHS FFA members named national finalists

    Taylor County High School FFA members Tyler Bush and Rachel Hinton were recently named national finalists in the 2014 National FFA Agriscience Fair at the 87th National FFA Convention & Expo on Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Louisville.

    Hinton finished 17th in environmental services/natural resource systems division 2. Bush finished 16th in the same category, division 1.

    They both received bronze medals.
