  • TCHS names Students of the Week

     

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of March 10.

    They are freshman Chloe Benningfield, sophomore Matthew Hedgespeth, junior Jacob Hiller and senior Amber Green.

  • CES hosts parent involvement day

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School recently hosted a National African American Parent Involvement Day event at its school on the former Durham High campus.

    More than 80 adults attended and had a meal with their children who attend CES.

    Each family that attended received a free book from the school's Family Resources and Youth Services Center.

  • CES hosts Cultural Awareness Day

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School third graders recently learned about other cultures on Cultural Awareness Day.

    Students researched countries from around the world and went to each classroom and spoke to their classmates about that country.

    They dressed up in hats, dresses and shoes from the countries. Every student in the school received a passport with stickers for each country being shared about during the event.

    Kimberly Clark, a Campbellsville University student teacher, and Patty Haley hosted the event.

    Monday - Bosco pizza sticks with marinara sauce, sweet corn, peaches, fruit and milk.

    Tuesday - Chicken nachos, tortilla chips, Spanish rice, refried beans, mandarin oranges and milk.

    Wednesday - Lasagna, garden salad with tomatoes, peas and carrots, garlic bread, sidekick smoothies, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, green beans, diced pears, fruit and milk.

  • CES celebrates Dr. Seuss

     

    From Thing 1 and Thing 2 to Horton and Cindy Lou Who, Campbellsville Independent students made Dr. Seuss's book characters come to life.

    Originally planned for last week, but rescheduled to this week because of winter weather, Campbellsville Elementary School is celebrating Dr. Seuss and his writings this week, in honor of his birthday on March 2.

    Tuesday was the day students could dress as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Writers of the Week for the week of Feb. 14.

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Good Deed winners for the week of Feb. 21.

    They are Alyssa Benningfield, Sienna Haffner, Easton Corbin and Daniel Taylor. Linda Lou Couch isn't pictured.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for the week of Feb. 21.

    They are kindergartener Jocelyn Begley, second-grader Kylee Farmer and first-grader Haley England.

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of Feb. 24.

    They are freshman Rachel Price, sophomore Cameron Wright, junior Caleb-Michael Benningfield and senior Alexa Parker.

  • TCMS student makes junior high all state chorus

     

    Ayreal Allen, an eighth-grader at Taylor County Middle School, was selected to participate in the 2014 Kentucky Junior High All State Choir. This is an elite choir with 220 members from the state.

    The group performed at the Kentucky Center for the Arts on Feb. 6. Allen is under the direction of choral director Laura Gordon.
