  • Resident named to Morehead State University dean's list

    Amber Pearl Ellard of Campbellsville has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester.

    To be eligible for dean's list, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 hours of classes.

  • School year off to a good start

    The year is off to a good start at Campbellsville Schools.

    The 2014-2015 school year began last Wednesday, and Campbellsville Schools Superintendent Mike Deaton said, so far, everything has gone well. However, enrollment is a bit less than where the District ended last year.

    Deaton told Campbellsville Board of Education members at their regular meeting on Monday night that open houses went well this summer.

    Preschool students will start class on Aug. 18, he said.

  • CHS student to perform at state fair

    Samuel Kessler, a freshman at Campbellsville High School, will compete at the semi-finals competition of the Coca-Cola Talent Classic at the Kentucky State Fair.

    Kessler will compete on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2:30 p.m. He will play a piano piece and sing at the South Wing Conference Center of the Kentucky Fair and Exhibition Center.

    The competition is for performers ages 13 to 21. Preliminary competitions are hosted in nearly 40 counties across Kentucky and surrounding states. The semi-final and final competitions are hosted each August.

  • Student with local ties wins science fair

     

    Jonathan Bartley of Lebanon won the Marion County Public Library Science Fair on July 23.

    He is the son of Eric and Kristen Bartley of Lebanon and the grandson of Benny and Phyllis Humphress of Campbellsville.

    Bartley received a ribbon and a $20 Walmart gift card.

  • Do It Yourself

     

    Taylor County Public Library hosted a do it yourself beauty event on Saturday, with participants learning to make their own salt scrub and facial cream.

    Debbie Parson, adult services librarian, taught the class and said natural beauty products are good for the skin because whatever is put on it ends up in a person's body.
