  • TCHS class is 'up in the air'


    A group of students at Taylor County High School are preparing to take to the skies.

    Last Thursday, Deborah Hinton's aviation class began building a radio-controlled airplane, which will be used in a University of Kentucky-sponsored competition in May.

  • A Pie and a Song


    Campbellsville Middle School Eagle Choir hosted its second annual pie social Sunday afternoon.

    The event featured performances by the CMS Eagle Choir as well as individual talent performed by students and adults.

    The event raise about $1,800 for the purchase of music, costumes, props and set designs.

  • TCHS DECA qualifies for state conference


    On Thursday, Feb. 6, 21 members of Taylor County High School's DECA chapter traveled to the Region 3 DECA conference at Western Kentucky University.

    Students competed in various events by taking exams, giving presentations and appearing before judges.

    All 21 DECA members qualified for the upcoming state DECA conference on March 6-8 at the Galt House in Louisville.

  • ECTC dean's, president's lists announced

    Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has announced the names of students who made the dean's and president's honor lists for the fall 2010 semester.

    Those listed from Taylor County are:

  • CES to have kindergarten registration March 7-10

    Registration for kindergarten students entering Campbellsville Independent Schools for the 2011-2012 school year will be March 7-10.

    Those whose children attend Campbellsville Preschool or Head Start will have this registration completed. Children enrolling must be 5 years old by or on Oct. 1.

    Parents with children entering kindergarten in August will need to contact Campbellsville Elementary School at 465-4561 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

  • Phillips graduates from WKU


    Brent Robert Phillips graduated from Western Kentucky University in December.

    He earned a double major in religious studies and political science and was named to the dean's list.

    Phillips is attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas.

    He is the son of Michael and Beverly Phillips of Campbellsville and the grandson of the Rev. C. David and Pat Lyons of Campbellsville.

  • Chinese New Year Celebration


    They line the hallway.

    Eighty-eight Taylor County Elementary School kindergartners wearing masks and carrying lanterns made of construction paper.

    Kindergartners celebrated the Chinese New Year last week. In addition to the parade, the students also tasted Chinese food.

    Teacher Shelly Young said it was all a part of a study about Chinese culture.
