  • TCHS names Students of the Week

  • Instruction costs up at Campbellsville schools

    Instruction costs at Campbellsville Independent Schools were up last year.

    During last Monday's monthly School Board meeting, Jeff Sprowles of Wise, Buckner, Sprowles & Associates gave an audit report for the District's fiscal year ending June 30.

    According to Sprowles, instruction accounts for 58 percent of the District's $12.88 million in expenses for 2010, or $7.56 million.

  • Cheerleaders host Trick and Trot fundraiser

     

    The Taylor County Middle School cheerleaders hosted their second annual Trick and Trot 5k run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 23.

    The fundraiser helps with competition expenses throughout the year. The first place overall winner in the 5k race was Shelly Peterson, front. The first place overall male winner in the 5K race was Terry Holmes, at center in back row. The first place winner for female 5K walk was Missy Knopp and first place winner for male 5K walk was Dwight Adcock.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for Nov. 5. They are, from left, kindergartner Caleb Russell, first grader Brooke Bowles, second grader Connor Wise, third grader Bethany Meece, fourth grader Shelby Wethington and fifth grader Landon Simmons.

    Campbellsville High School recently announced its Students of the Week for Oct. 25-29. They are, from left, Emily Haley, Ethan Bailey, Jasmine Dowell, Johnny Embry, Denika Smith, Jon Baker, Jamecia Washington and Joe Butler.
     

  • Locals compete in All-State Piano Ensemble

     

    The All-State Piano Ensemble is one of the highlights of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association Annual Conference. Students from around the state joined in the event for an educational experience at the University of Louisville. They played music together under the direction of conductor Susan Olgilvie from Texas and attended music clinics by university faculty from around Kentucky.

    This year, participating students saw Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist Haochen Zhang perform.
