    The Friends group supports the work of the public library by hosting special programs during the year. We have had an active Friends group for about three years.

  • TCES student wins district spelling bee


    Emma Maynard, a second-grade student in Robin Underwood's class at Taylor County Elementary School won the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College 47th annual North Central Spelling Bowl on April 15 in Elizabethtown. Thirteen districts were represented. Maynard won the TCES spelling bee to qualify for the competition.

    Campbellsville Elementary School students were recently recognized for meeting Accelerated Reader goals.

  • School building discussion draws cheers, boos

    It was a night of cheers and jeers at last week's Taylor County School Board meeting.

    With the meeting moved to Taylor County Middle School's gymnasium to accommodate a larger crowd, the discussion of the District's building project prompted several rounds of applause from the crowd, as well as one instance of boos.

  • Students honored at 'Celebration of Scholars'


    Former Kentucky Gov. Martha Layne Collins congratulates Kenzie Lyons and Courtney Marlow on Saturday, March 26 for the scholarships they were awarded by Georgetown College during the annual "Celebration of Scholars" banquet in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

    Both seniors at Taylor County High School, Lyons is the daughter of Gary and Terri Lyons of Campbellsville, and Marlow's parents are Charles Marlow and Tracy Pettit of Campbellsville.

  • Anti-drug coalition sponsors Kick Butts poster contest


    Campbellsville/Taylor County Anti-Drug Coalition sponsored a poster contest at Campbellsville Middle School for Kick Butts Day on March 23. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand up against tobacco use. One winner was chosen for each grade level.

    Winners received a Campbellsville drawstring backpack with free movie passes, a T-shirt and other prizes inside. Front, from left, are Amye McFall, Cassie Squires, Sara Farmer and Cameron Martin. In back is Erin Estes, Campbellsville site coordinator.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week


    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for April 1. They are kindergartner Mariah Appleby, first grader Christopher Williams, second grader Emily Watkins, third grader Dillon Whitaker, fourth grader Kelsie Perkins, fifth grader Alexia Moss and fifth grader Sami Jo Smith.
