  • TCHS celebrates National FFA Week

     

    Taylor County High School students celebrated National FFA Week with several activities last week.

    On Monday, club members went to a movie and ate together at Mr. Gatti's.

    The Ag Olympics were Tuesday, with a hay bale toss, tractor races and corn hole. A basketball game was scheduled for Wednesday, and the group had a meeting on Thursday.

    On Friday, there was a meal for FFA members and teachers.

  • CMS academic team wins at Governor's Cup

     

    On Jan. 22, the Campbellsville Middle School Academic Team competed in the KAAC District Governor's Cup competition.

    The competition consisted of future problem solving, written composition, written assessment in mathematics, science, social studies, arts and humanities and language arts and a quick recall competition. CMS had six students place in their written composition or written assessment areas.

  • CU students to meet with legislators

    Campbellsville University students will participate in National Professional Social Work Month by attending a social work rally at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort on Wednesday, March 2 and also meeting with legislators.

    The theme of the month's celebration is "Social Workers Change Futures."

    There is a "Dummy" book for just about anything you want to learn how to do.

    The "For Dummies" brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Here is a list of the books that the Taylor County Public Library has.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for Feb. 18. They are kindergartner Meleah Arnold, first grader Zachary Smith, second grader Marc Shewmaker, third grader Autumn Matney, fourth grader Amber Cave and fifth grader Kate Cheatham.

  • CES students deliver valentines

     

    Students in Lisa Wiseman's kindergarten class at Campbellsville Elementary School made valentine bags earlier this month to deliver valentines to their classmates.

  • TCMS wins at regional Governor's Cup

     

    Taylor County Middle came home with honors on Saturday, Feb. 5 from the Middle School Regional Governor's Cup competition in Russell County.

    Jilly Bruns was runner-up in the mathematics assessment. Levi Haliday brought home fifth place in the social studies assessment, and the quick recall team won a third-place trophy in the 15-school competition.

    TCMS was also the recipient of the Hume Sportsmanship award.

    Bruns and Haliday qualified to compete in the state competition in March.

  • CU names Kelsey Best as Miss Valentine

    Kelsey Best, a sophomore from Harrodsburg, has been named the 2011 Miss Valentine Pageant queen at Campbellsville University.

    The CU Student Government Association hosted the Miss Valentine Pageant on Friday, Feb. 11 in Ransdell Chapel. The theme was "At Last" by Etta James.

    Tuesday - Grilled cheese, chicken noodle soup, vegetable sticks, corn ships, mandarin oranges and milk. Choice: corn dog.

    Wednesday - Manager's choice, hashbrown, tossed salad, banana pudding and milk. Choice: pork chop.

    Thursday - Chili, crackers, cheese slice, carrot sticks, apple, Scooby cookies and milk. Choice: fried steak.

  • TCHS Fit 4 Life hosts basketball tournament

     

    Taylor County High School Fit 4 Life program hosted a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Friday, Jan. 28 at the TCHS gym.

    There were 12 teams that gathered for a small sermon by Bro. Brian Rafferty and played a double elimination basketball tournament. A group of sophomore boys and one freshman dominated the court to win the tournament undefeated.
