Lindsey Wilson College is making professional development a little easier for the region's teachers.

Beginning this summer, Lindsey Wilson will offer a master's degree in education. The unique program - which is open only to full-time teachers - will be offered on weekends. Students who will enter the 30-hour program as a cohort will be able to earn their master's degree in 14 months.

Classes for the first cohort are scheduled to begin in June.

Taylor County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Walsh visited Taylor County Elementary School on March 11. Walsh spoke to students in Norma Simpson's fifth-grade class about the dangers of alcohol and drug use. Here, he demonstrates to Dylan Gribbins the effects of alcohol intoxication with the use of Fatal Vision Goggles, which were donated by MADD.

Kentucky Christian School recently competed against nine other Christian schools in Math Olympics. Taylor County Future Farmers of America spent the month of March in regional competition.

The competition was divided into three days. The first day was March 18, when the small engine team and welding team competed. The welding team, consisting of Kayla Cash, Zachary Powell, Jacob Noel and Jeremy Perkins, received a superior first rating. The small engine team, with members Dakota Gilbert, Casey Marlow, Justin Wooldridge and Justin Gribbins, received a superior rating.
