  • CU students to go on mission trips during spring break

    Campbellsville University students will spend their spring break in Panama City, Fla., Costa Rica, Dearborn, Mich., and Central Florida prisons, serving others through mission trips.

    Spring break for Campbellsville University is March 14-18.

    In Panama City, Fla., students from across the country will meet to minister to the 100,000 spring breakers with a program called Beach Reach.

  • Gary Vidito visits TCES

     

    Gary Vidito visited Taylor County Elementary School's fifth-grade students on Thursday, March 10. Vidito is a professional entertainer and songwriter who shares his passion for history through music and stories. His presentation, "A Nation Once More," was designed to enhance students' knowledge of the Civil War.

  • CES names Students of the Week

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School recently named its Students of the Week for March 4.

  • Bailey serves as page for Sen. Jimmy Higdon

     

    Jonathan Kyle Bailey, the son of Charles and Vicky Bailey and a sophomore at Taylor County High School, served as a page for Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, on Feb. 24.

  • Residents compete for Begley Scholarship

    Three Taylor County residents competed in Lindsey Wilson College's 2011 Scholars Day on Saturday, Feb. 19.

    The three Taylor County residents were among 109 select high school seniors from four states who were invited by the college to compete for one of three John B. Begley Scholarships.

  • Library receives grant for children's books

    The Taylor County Public Library has received a grant from the Green/Taylor Early Childhood Council to purchase several children's books for our collection.

    This will be a two-part article since there are too many titles to list in just one article. Watch for the second part of this article in a few weeks.

  • CIS receives mobile computer lab

     

    Campbellsville Independent Schools recently received 30 netbook computers on a rolling cart with a printer and wireless access.

    Teachers are able to enrich the content they are teaching in their classroom without having to physically move the students to a location with computers and Internet access.

    The computers were purchased with funds provided by Citizens Bank and Trust Co.

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Good Deed winners for the week of March 2. They are Logan Parker, Caleb Miller, Nathan Crabtree, Madison Kinser and Alexis Mings.

    Wednesday - Pizza, buttered corn, mandarin oranges, Rice Krispie treat and milk. Choice - pork chop.

    Thursday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, green beans, fruit cocktail, bread slice and milk. Choice - fried steak.
