  • Board adopts 2011-2012 school calendar

    Though state approval is pending, Taylor County Schools' 2011-2012 calendar has been set.

    School Board members approved the calendar at Tuesday night's regular meeting. Because the calendar includes early-release Fridays, it is considered an alternative calendar and must have KDE approval.

    The first day for students is set for Aug. 3, while the last day would be May 17.

    Monday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, fruit salad and milk.

    Tuesday - Tacos, tortilla chips, lettuce, tomato, cheese, Spanish rice, sherbet and milk.

    Wednesday - Bacon cheeseburger, French fries, pickles, onions, peaches, Chips Ahoy cookie and milk.

    Thursday - Scrambled eggs, sausage patty, cinnamon apples, biscuits with gravy and milk.

    Friday - Chili crispitos, refried beans, nachos with salsa, fruit and milk.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for March 4. They are kindergartner Destiny Rafferty, first grader Sophie McAnelly, second grader Hannah Burris, third grader Jacob Ewing and fourth grader Lauren Phillips.

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for March 1-4. From left, they are senior Ellie McKinley, junior Gabby Keene, sophomore Jackie Wicker and freshman Zoe Lockard.

  • TCES academic team wins governor's cup

     

    The Taylor County Elementary School Academic Team placed first overall at the district Governor's Cup competition, which was hosted by Campbellsville Elementary School.

    The TCES quick recall team placed first, while several students qualified individually to continue on to the regional competition, which will be in Nelson County.

  • Bluegrass Cheer Stars named grand champions

     

    Bluegrass Cheer Stars competed Saturday, Feb. 5 in the Capital Cup Challenge in Frankfort. The squad received first place in the youth all-star level 2 cheer division and earned the title of grand champion in the all-star division. The squad also performed its routine on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Campbellsville University.
