  • Anti-drug coalition sponsors Kick Butts poster contest

     

    Campbellsville/Taylor County Anti-Drug Coalition sponsored a poster contest at Campbellsville Middle School for Kick Butts Day on March 23. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand up against tobacco use. One winner was chosen for each grade level.

    Winners received a Campbellsville drawstring backpack with free movie passes, a T-shirt and other prizes inside. Front, from left, are Amye McFall, Cassie Squires, Sara Farmer and Cameron Martin. In back is Erin Estes, Campbellsville site coordinator.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for April 1. They are kindergartner Mariah Appleby, first grader Christopher Williams, second grader Emily Watkins, third grader Dillon Whitaker, fourth grader Kelsie Perkins, fifth grader Alexia Moss and fifth grader Sami Jo Smith.

    Wednesday - Tacos, tortilla chips, lettuce, tomato, cheese, Spanish rice, sherbet and milk. Choice - pork chop.

    Thursday - Manager's choice, hash brown, applesauce, vanilla wafers and milk. Choice - corn dog.

  • Bruns, Graham win at piano competition

     

    Jilly Bruns, the daughter of Eric and Tracy Bruns, and Stewart Graham, the son of John and Melissa Willis, were winners at the multi-state piano ensemble competition, which was March 12 at the University of Tennessee at Martin. They study piano with Judith Davis.

  • School Board focuses on technology

    Staff Report

    Technology was a major focus at Monday's meeting of the Campbellsville School Board.

    Teachers from all three of the District's schools gave a presentation to Board members on how new technology is stirring excitement in the classroom.

    Technology instructor Terry Brewer said there are now SmartBoards in each classroom in the District, and students are enjoying them.

  • TCES student wins state essay contest

     

    A Taylor County Elementary student has been named the state winner in the annual "AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year" essay contest.

    AARP Kentucky and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association recently presented the ninth annual award to 11-year-old Elizabeth Rogers for her winning essay about her grandmother, Diane Rogers, a retired educator from Campbellsville.
