  • Local students participate in 'Spur of the Moment' workshop

     

    Students from Campbellsville and Columbia in kindergarten through third grade participated in a "Spur of the Moment" Improv Workshop at Campbellsville University's Russ Mobley Theater on June 20-24.

  • TCMS cheerleaders go to Somer Splash

     

    Taylor County Middle School's 2011-2012 cheerleading squad recently took a trip to Somer Splash. Attending were Sydney Benningfield, Hannah Gadberry, Maddie Tungate, Cailee Higdon, Alexia Moss, Ally Currie, Danae Brockman, Rebekah Ellis, Emily Lee, Shelby Lemmon, Makayla Herron, Danielle Dickens, Madison South, Savannah Graham and several parents and friends. Not pictured are Kate Cheatham, Taylor Edelen and Morgan Roney. The team is coached by Lindsey Atwood.

  • Students compete at keyboard festival

    Nine students from the central Kentucky area went to Western Kentucky University and University of Louisville for the annual keyboard festivals, sponsored by the Kentucky Music Teachers Association.

    Out of the nine, seven received superior ratings for their performances. The nine participating students are studying with Judith Chen Davis.

    The superior performers were Brandi Blakeman, Jilly Bruns, Seth Jessie, Ashley Patterson, Faith VanMeter, Stewart Graham and Hayley VanMeter. Graham and Hayley VanMeter also received theory meritorious awards.

  • Foreign exchange host families needed

    Foreign high school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester and year homestay programs, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families.

    According to Pacific Intercultural Exchange President John Doty, the students are all between the ages of 15 and 18 years, are English-speaking, have their own spending money, carry accident and health insurance and want to share their cultural experiences with their new American families.

  • CU hosts 43 different camp groups over the summer

    Campbellsville University will host 43 different camps and 5,000 campers for church groups, sports teams, children's camps and freshman orientation this summer.

    One group, the CentriKid Training Week Program, has been using CU as its summer camp destination since 1990.

    "They've told me the reason they return is because of the excellent customer service," said Rusty Watkins, director of summer camps and conferences.
