The 2008 Central Kentucky's Civil War Trail included the reenactment of the Battle of Tebbs Bend on May 13.

Local historian and author Betty Jane Gorin-Smith and the Tebbs Bend Battlefield Association with the assistance of several re-enactors, relived the Battle of Tebbs Bend for visitors, which included 300 students from Taylor County and Campbellsville middle schools.

Bruce Loveall, a Civil War re-enactor from Greensburg, recruited other re-enactors including John Gatton, Vestal Rogers, Allen Rowe, Charles Lemons, Leonard Lay and Paul Withington.

The Taylor County High School Journalism Department won 11 awards at the 2008 Kentucky High School Journalism Association State Contest on May 7 at the Clarion Conference Center in Louisville.

The school's 2007 yearbook, the Cardinal, finished third place overall in Class AAA behind Bowling Green and Louisville Assumption.

The school's broadcast, Taylor News Today, finished third overall in Class AAA behind Louisville Waggoner and South Oldham.

Taylor County High School Chorus performed its year-end concert on Thursday, May 15 at Campbellsville Baptist Church. Assistant choral director Brandon Centers directed the choirs while Lisa Gupton, head choral director, provided accompaniment. Pictured is an ensemble of mostly senior men who performed a special number, "In the Still of the Nite," during the concert. Zach Cox performs a solo during the a cappella number. Other solos during the number were sung by Nick Wilson and Shawn Myers.

St. Catharine College recently announced the names of students who have achieved extraordinary academic success for the spring 2008 semester.

The dean's list includes all students who had a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.999. The president's list includes students who had a perfect 4.0 during the spring semester.

Students from Taylor County who were on the dean's list included Hannah Cox, Amanda Shaw, Christopher Smith, Keely Tedder and Emily Thomas.

Sherry Clark from Taylor County was named to the president's list.
