  • Taylor County students graduate from St. Catharine College

    Three Taylor County students were among the 105 graduates who received degrees from St. Catharine College during commencement ceremonies on May 10.

    Megan Bays received an associate of science degree in nursing. Bethany Elaine Wooley received an associate of science degree in diagnostic sonography. Sherry Clark received a certificate in pharmacy technology and graduated magna cum laude.

  • Mr. and Miss Campbellsville University named

    Trent Elliott Creason of Campbellsville and Heather Marie Campbell of Graysville, Pa., were honored as Mr. and Miss Campbellsville University 2008 at Honors and Awards Day recently in Ransdell Chapel.

  • School Board approves construction bids, sells bonds

    Bids have been approved and bonds have been sold to finance the renovation project at Campbellsville High School.

    Campbellsville School Board members gave their approval to these items at a special meeting Tuesday at noon.

    First, Board members approved an about $4.3 million base construction bid along with a $3,000 interior signage bid to Isaac Tatum Construction Inc.

    Isaac Tatum's bid was the lowest the Board received out of three bids, with the other two bids coming from Mack Davis Construction and Martin Construction.

  • Burch earns Janice Holt Giles Award

    Morgan Lourrae Burch has been selected as the recipient of the Janice Holt Giles Award.

    This award is given annually to the young woman who is an outstanding junior student at Taylor County High School. The award is supported by the Giles Society and in addition to the recognition, the book, "Janice Holt Giles: A Writer's Life," is presented to the student.

    Burch was selected because she excels in writing, is interested in Kentucky history and geography, is an avid reader, is planning to further her education and is a valuable member of the community.

  • KCS students qualify for Duke program

    Six Kentucky Christian School fourth-graders qualified for the Duke Talent Identification Program. Each student scored at the 95th percentile or higher on the verbal or math section of the Stanford Achievement Test. Duke provides them with resources for unique educational opportunities.   • CU Chorale awarded silver cup in international competition

    Dr. Frieda Gebert, director of the Campbellsville University Chorale, presented Dr. Michael Carter, president of CU, with an award-winning silver cup the chorale earned from its first international competition in Italy over spring break.

  • Tarter earns doctor of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis

    Ann Tarter, O.D., of Campbellsville was among 119 students who were recently awarded the doctor of optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn.

    Tarter was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

    A 2004 graduate of Centre College and a graduate of Campbellsville High School, Tarter is the daughter of Debra and Gary Waldron and Mike and Lyndi Tarter and the granddaughter of Norman and Margaret Christie and Elbert and Genieve Tarter.

  • FFA chapter members honored during year-end banquet

    Taylor County High School's Future Farmers of America celebrated a year of success during its annual banquet on Thursday, May 8.

    Several members received awards and appreciation.

    At the regional and state levels, 47 of 51 members received superior ratings. The chapter also received 23 first-place awards, 11 second-place awards and four excellent ratings.
