  • CES student named Crusade for Children poster child

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School student Jewell Cox has been named the Kentucky/southern Indiana poster child for the WHAS Crusade for Children. WHAS representatives attended an assembly recently to unveil a poster of Cox. Pictured are Jewell, center, with Campbellsville/Taylor County firefighters and WHAS representatives.

  • TCMS Peers for Peace group participates in Kick Butts Day

     

    Taylor County Middle School Peers for Peace group participated in National Kick Butts Day on March 23. The day encourages people to kick the habit of smoking.

    The club participated by going to Green River Lake and picking up cigarette butts. The students had a contest to see who could pick up the most, and they were able to gather more than 1,000. Jaycee Mings won the contest and received two movie passes to Green River Cinema 6.

  • Students study history during spring break

     

    A group of fifth-grade students and their parents from Taylor County Middle School spent spring break studying history while visiting famous historical sites in Williamsburg, Va., and Washington D.C.

    The group spent the first day learning about life in Colonial Williamsburg. As they visited each site, they learned about the life and times in the 1700s.

  • Internet safety training is May 5

    The Taylor County School System will offer a free Internet safety training session on Thursday, May 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Taylor County High School library.

  • TCHS Drama to present Drama-o-Rama

    Taylor County High School Drama will present Drama-o-Rama at Campbellsville University's Alumni Theater on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7.

    There will be two one-act plays and monologues performed.

    Shows begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.

  • TCES PTA elections are May 10, 18

    Taylor County Elementary School elections are set for Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 18.

    On May 10 will be PTA officer elections. Those who would like to run may run along with another person to share the position of president, vice-president, secretary or treasurer.

    The school's site-based decision making council election will be May 18.

    Those who would like to run for one of two positions can pick up a registration form at the TCES office.

    Forms should be completed and turned in to the TCES office by Wednesday, May 11.

  • Steele is preliminary scholarship qualifier

     

    Erin Steele is a preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship qualifier. Steele, a junior at Taylor County High School, is the daughter of Richard and Alice Steele.

  • ECTC students win gold medals at state competition

     

    Fifteen Elizabethtown Community and Technical College students won 16 gold medals and eight silver medals at the SkillsUSA State Championships in Louisville in April.

    They will represent the college and the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the National SkillsUSA Championship in late June in Kansas City, Mo.

    Gold Medal Winners from Campbellsville were Casey Marlow in extemporaneous speaking and Colton Lobb in mechatronics.

  • Campbellsville Middle to elect SBDM parent members

    Campbellsville Middle School PTSA will host an election of parent members of the school's site-based decision making council on Wednesday, May 11.

    Elections will take place at CMS from 3 to 6 p.m.

    Two parent members will be elected to serve on the council. Absentee ballots will not be allowed.
