  • Judd graduates from SCC

    A Campbellsville woman is among the spring graduates at Somerset Community College.

    In May, the college hosted its annual spring graduation ceremony at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset. SCC, which now boasts an enrollment of more than 7,000 students, two campuses and four satellite centers, awarded a record number of associate degrees, diplomas and certificates this year.

    Tiffany Elizabeth Judd of Campbellsville earned a certificate from SCC in phlebotomy/healthcare worker at the completion of the spring 2007-2008 semester.

  • Ellis is new CU admissions counselor

    John Ellis of Campbellsville has been named an admissions counselor at Campbellsville University, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.

    Ellis will be serving and recruiting from the Louisville area. Originally from Northern Kentucky, Ellis is a 1996 graduate of Beechwood High School and a 2001 graduate of Georgetown College. He received a bachelor of arts in communications and business management.

  • Rucker is new CU admissions counselor

    Kristin Rucker of Campbellsville has been named an admissions counselor at Campbellsville University, according to Dr. Michael V. Carter, president.

    Rucker will be serving and recruiting from the Western Kentucky region, which includes Fulton, Hickman, Ballard, Graves, Calloway, Marshall, Carlisle, McCracken, Livingston, Lyon, Trigg, Caldwell, Crittenden, Christian, Hopkins, Webster, Union, Henderson, Todd, Muhlenberg, McLean, Daviess, Logan, Simpson, Allen, Warren, Butler, Edmonson, Grayson, Ohio, Hancock, Breckinridge and Meade counties.

  • Carney receives check from KEPAC

    Bam Carney, candidate for state representative, received a $1,000 check from the Kentucky Education Political Action Committee. Presenting the check is Patty Evans, center, 4th District KEPAC chair, and Dawn Flinchum, left, Taylor County Education Association PEC committee member. The three are teachers at TCHS as well as local education association members.

  • Campbellsville University receives federal grant

    Campbellsville University has been selected to receive a $399,800 grant through the U.S. Department of Education's Strengthening Institutions Program, U.S. Rep. Ron Lewis announced recently.

    Funds will be used to support efforts to improve achievement and retention during the first two years of students' academic careers.

    Dr. Frieda Gebert, associate professor of music at Campbellsville University, has spent part of her summer teaching in the Governor's Scholars Program at Morehead State University.

    She's the first in a decade from Campbellsville University to teach at GSP.

  • Blue is Technology Student of the Year

    Dylan Blue, a 2008 graduate of Webster County High School, was named the Webster County Area Technology Student of the Year, Outstanding Welding Student and recipient of a scholarship to Madisonville Community College.

    He is the son of Lindsay and Valerie Blue of Sebree. His grandparents are Betty Scott Blue of Hanson and Nolan and Rita Underwood of Campbellsville. He is also the great-grandson of Mrs. Jessie Underwood of Campbellsville.

  • Davis employed as CU's director of campus security

    Kyle Davis of Greensburg is the new director of campus safety and security at Campbellsville University, according to an announcement from Dr. Michael V. Carter, CU president.

    As the new director, Davis said he is reviewing what is established and is sorting ideas for upgrades to get the best safety and security plan possible for the campus.

    Davis is working on several plans including an e-mail notification system for the campus as well as a phone notification system for administrative offices.
