Several Taylor County residents graduated from the University of Louisville in the spring.

They are: Karla M. Curry, a Taylor County High School graduate, bachelor of fine arts; Brooke Morgan Montgomery, a Campbellsville High School graduate, juris doctor; Melissa Sue Forrest, master of science in social work; Richard Thomas Top, bachelor of arts; and Whitney Sharday Webster, a Campbellsville High School graduate, bachelor of science.

God's World PRIDE Club raised money this summer for the Taylor County Food Pantry through two fundraisers. The club conducted an aluminum can drive in May, which raised $39. Students sold lemonade in July and raised $206, for a total of $245. Club president Alex Tungate presented the checks and cash to Bro. Michael Goodwin, chairman of the food pantry committee, and Dr. Skip Alexander, president of the Taylor County Ministerial Association. Lindsey Wilson College is offering six classes to area senior citizens at an unbeatable price - free.

As part of Lindsey Wilson's Senior Scholars Program, area residents age 62 and over can audit one of six fall classes at no tuition expense.

Classes offered in this fall's senior scholars program include geography, marriage and the family, New Testament, Old Testament, women's studies and world civilization.

More than 170 ninth graders attended Taylor County High School's first ever Freshman Focus Orientation Camp.

Students heard motivational speakers Chris Bowers and Ryan Moran from Indianapolis, Ind., and were welcomed by more than 45 junior and senior student mentors during the two-day camp.

TCHS is one of only a few schools in Kentucky to implement the Freshman Focus program. The program began about seven years ago at Hilliard-Davidson High School in Ohio with collaboration from the Ohio Institute of Human Services.
