  • Students recognized at CU social work and counseling pinning ceremony

    Campbellsville University's Carver school of Social Work and Counseling had a pinning ceremony Dec. 14 in The Gheens Recital Hall for graduates.

    Graduates recognized at the pinning ceremony from Campbellsville include Leslie Carver and Emily Harlan, who received bachelor of social work degrees, and Daniel Hall, who received a master of science in counseling.

  • CU receives rankings for online programs

    U.S. News & World Report has released the list of the best online programs in the nation and Campbellsville University has been acknowledged.

    In the 2013 Best Online Graduate Business Programs report, CU is ranked 86th. CU was the only college in Kentucky to be ranked in the report with a numerical value.

    Other Kentucky schools that made the list but whose rank was not published include Murray State University and Western Kentucky University.

  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Writers of the Week for the week of Jan. 18.

    Five Baptist Campus Ministry students from Campbellsville University spent their Christmas and New Year in East Asia presenting the celebration of the true Christmas story to the people in the small city in which they visited.

  • Consumer Cues: Tax Tips

    In 2013, federal tax credits will mean more for working families than ever before.

    As the economy struggles to recover from the recession, the Earned Income Credit can provide relief for many working families who are under economic stress.

    The EIC can help families pay back bills, avoid utility shut-offs or eviction, buy groceries, cover childcare costs or meet other needs. Working individuals and families need to know that help may be available when you file your 2013 tax return. You also need to know how and where to get assistance.

    Tuesday - Pepperoni pizza, tossed salad with romaine lettuce, celery sticks, ranch dressing, applesauce and milk.

    Wednesday - Beef tacos, tortilla chips, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, refried beans, fruit cocktail, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Grilled cheese, hash brown, mixed vegetables, mandarin oranges, fruit and milk.

    Friday - Teacher work day. No school.

  • CU valentine pageant is Friday, Feb. 8

     

    Twelve Campbellsville University students will compete in Campbellsville University's annual valentine pageant Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel.

  • Appliance package winner announced

     

    Janet Roberts of Campbellsville is the winner of an appliance package given away by Coppock Appliance and Electronics, Frigidaire and Taylor County School District.

    The drawing was at the Taylor County vs. Campbellsville boys basketball game on Jan. 4. A total of 2,766 tickets were sold for the raffle raising $27,660 to contribute to the Taylor County schools' iPad initiative.

  • Locals named to EKU president's, dean's lists

    Eastern Kentucky University has announced that 1,224 students, including two from Campbellsville, earned president's list honors for the fall 2012 semester.

    Those from Campbellsville named to the list include Adam Blake Cox, a senior police Studies major, and Laura Kathryn Hieneman, a sophomore English teaching major.

    The president's list was established to recognize outstanding academic achievement. It is bestowed upon full-time undergraduate students who attain a perfect 4.0 grade point average for a semester.

  • TCHS group visits assisted living facility

     

    Taylor County High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America recently visited Jackson Tower, an assisted living residence.

    The members provided the residents with a dinner of soups, sandwiches, chips and desserts.

    The groups also challenged the residents in several games of bingo.

    FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important family work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
