  • TCHS group visits assisted living facility

     

    Taylor County High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America recently visited Jackson Tower, an assisted living residence.

    The members provided the residents with a dinner of soups, sandwiches, chips and desserts.

    The groups also challenged the residents in several games of bingo.

    FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important family work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

  • TCHS names Students of the Week

     

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-28.

    They are, from left, freshman Makayla Sabo, sophomore Kassie Miller, junior Olivia Burton and senior Katie Long.

  • Scalos named to Georgetown dean's list

    Meredith A. Scalos of Campbellsville has been named to the dean's list for the 2012 fall semester at Georgetown College in Georgetown. She is the daughter of Brad and Karen Scalos of Campbellsville.

    The dean's list honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 3.7 GPA.

  • Parker named to Carson-Newman College's dean's list

    Abigail Parker of Campbellsville was among students honored recently by being named to Carson-Newman College's dean's list for the fall 2012 semester.

    Students earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while taking 12 or more credit hours are awarded the distinction of dean's list honors and feted at a reception sponsored by the Academic Affairs Office and Alpha Chi Honor Society.

    Monday - Hot ham and cheese, baked beans, cauliflower, carrot mix and ranch dressing, peaches, fruit and milk.

    Tuesday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, collard greens, chilled pears, fruit and milk.

    Wednesday - Corn dog, peas and carrots, lima beans, pineapple tidbits, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad with romaine lettuce, tomato slices, garlic bread, fruit cocktail, fruit and milk.

  • Campbellsville schools honor academic achievers

     

    Campbellsville Independent Schools recently announced its academic achievers for January. A boy and a girl from each school are named.

    Those recognized include:

    Campbellsville Elementary School

    Mary Russell is a second-grade student at CES. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Angela Russell. Her favorite teacher is Zack Lewis and math/reading is her favorite subject. She enjoys being on the CES dance team. Her future plans are to attend Campbellsville University and become a teacher/coach.

  • CU School of Education has pinning ceremony

    The Campbellsville University School of Education had its second annual pinning ceremony for undergraduates in December.

    Students in the interdisciplinary early childhood education, early childhood education, preschool through five elementary education, five though nine middle grades education, eight through 12 secondary education and preschool through 12 elementary secondary education were recognized.

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Good Deed winners for the week of Jan. 18.

    They are, from left, Brooklynn Wooley, Sarah Madson, Jake Gray, Shedy Taylor and Chase Morris.
