  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its intermediate Writers of the Week.

    Third-grader Cheyenne Hall was the winner for Nov. 18 and third-grader Stephanie Patel was the winner for Dec. 2.

  • TCMS names Students of the Week

     

    Taylor County Middle School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of Dec. 2.

    They are Codie Allen, Logan Williams, Nami Shah, Macy McAnelly, Mary Hall and Jacob Thompson.

  • CU's director of broadcast services retires

    Campbellsville University's Director of Broadcast Services Jimmie Wooley is retiring after eight years at WLCU-TV/FM.

    "Jimmie Wooley, part of the Campbellsville University legendary broadcast trio that included Al Hardy and the late Ed McGuire, is the consummate gentleman and a mass communication professional," according to Dr. Keith Spears, vice president for graduate and professional studies.

  • Superintendent evaluation process changing

    Plans are in the works to change the way superintendents at public schools in Kentucky are evaluated.

    Campbellsville Board of Education Chair Pat Hall told members during Monday night's regular meeting that school boards are being told they must change the way superintendents are evaluated.

    For Campbellsville Superintendent Mike Deaton's mid-year evaluation, she said, the board must participate in a pilot program to assess his abilities.

  • In the 'swing' of Christmas

     

    Taylor County High School's Women's Swing Ensemble performed Christmas classics on Dec. 9 during its annual winter concert.

    Members include Kaitlyn Beard, Miranda Blakeman, Malorie Byrne, Petyon Cambron, Lydia Epperson, Sabrina Garrison, Mary Gray, Brandy Lewis, Courtney McNeill, Alexa Parker and Anne Soelberg. Lisa Gupton directs the group.

    The TCHS Concert Choir will perform a concert Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Campbellsville Civic Center.

    Spirits were high at the Mayer household in Nelson County on Saturday, Nov. 2. Students were excited about a generous donation made by John Mayer to the Institute for Aerospace Education, a rare Rutan Defiant.

    When one thinks of Campbellsville University, "Robotics" isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Thanks to a recent partnership with Green County Area Technology Center, Campbellsville and Taylor County schools and Team Taylor County, a science fiction fantasy is becoming a reality for local high school students.

    They are freshman Carly Bland, sophomore Anthony Hardin, junior Hunter McQueary and senior Amber Green.
