  • TCMS names Students of the Week

     

    Taylor County Middle School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of April 14.

    They are Jaida Taylor, Sara Clark, Daniel Hutchens, Tori Daugherty, Morgan Newton and Brynn Mendez.

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of April 14.

    They are freshman Meghan Sanford, sophomore Josh Lumpkins, junior Brittany Speer and senior Mackenzie Martin.

    Monday - Bosco pizza sticks with marinara sauce, sweet corn, peaches, fruit and milk.

    Tuesday - Chicken nachos with tortilla chips, Spanish rice, refried beans, mandarin oranges and milk.

    Wednesday - Lasagna, garden salad with tomatoes, peas and carrots, garlic bread, sidekick smoothies, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, green beans, diced pears, fruit and milk.

  • Students to attend school May 20

    Campbellsville Independent School students will attend class on May 20, primary election day.

    On Monday night, Campbellsville Board of Education members voted to amend the current school calendar to include that day as one for instruction.

    Campbellsville Superintendent Mike Deaton said this sets the district's last day for students at Friday, May 23.

    Teachers will work through Wednesday, June 4, to complete some professional development, Deaton said.

  • Conservation district announces art, writing contest winners

     

    Taylor County Conservation District recently announced the winners of the Jim Claypool Conservation Art and Writing Contest for 2013.

    The theme was "Mission: H2O." All Kentucky students grade six through 12 are eligible to compete in the writing contest. Students in grade one through five can compete in the art contest.

    To honor the teachers in Taylor County, each of the first-place school winner's teachers will receive $50 to spend on supplies for their classroom.

  • TCES academic team wins region

     

    Taylor County Elementary School was recently named this year's 14th Region academic team champions and several students took home individual awards.

    The quick recall team of Emma Maynard, Peyton McCubbin, Amerilee Lowe, Jacob Milby, Lily Robertson and Caleb Penick won first place.

    The future problem solving team of Peyton McCubbin, Lily Robertson, Amerilee Lowe and Zane Murphy took home second place.

    Emma Maynard placed first place in language arts and Peyton McCubbin received third and Clay Corbin took home fourth.

    Wednesday - Chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, peaches, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Beef nachos with corn chips, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and cheese sauce, refried beans, applesauce and milk.

  • CU students, faculty travel to Israel and Jordan

    Campbellsville University's School of Theology took 36 students, faculty, family, friends or CU alumni to Israel and Jordan on a Holy Land tour.

    The tour gave travelers an opportunity to experience "the fifth gospel" on March 1-11.
