  • TCES names Writers of the Week

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Writers of the Week for the week of March 7.

    They are first-grader Carson Hedgespeth, second-grader Trey Hancock, third-grader Tatum Caulk and fifth-grader Molly Crabtree.

  • Campbellsville school calendar amended

     

    After spring break, Campbellsville Independent students will attend a full day of school on Fridays. Now, the students are released at 1 p.m. those days.

    But because winter weather has caused the cancellation of several days of school, the District's top official has said attending the entire day on Fridays will allow students to make up some of the instruction they lost.

  • CES students make valentines for Grandview residents

     

    Campbellsville Elementary students were challenged to participate in a leadership project recently, and they encouraged their parents to make valentines with them at home to be distributed to Grandview nursing home residents.

    Patty Haley's classroom made the most valentines and received a valentine treat.

    Combined, CES students created and delivered 258 valentines.

  • CMS hosts penny war

     

    Campbellsville Middle School Beta recently hosted a penny war for its Souper Bowl of Caring.

    The school donated 717 items to the Taylor County Food Pantry.

  • TCES names Good Deed winners

     

    Taylor County Elementary School recently named its Good Deed winners for the week of Feb. 28.

    They are Taliyah Higgins, Ayden Hillard, Timothy Vinyard, Jack Hughes and Evan Bryant.

    Taylor County Middle School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of March 10.

    They are Joseph Cox, Sky Sapp, Grace Giles, Riley Vaughn, Chase McNear and Brandon Carr.

    Taylor County High School recently named its Students of the Week for the week of March 10.

    They are freshman Chloe Benningfield, sophomore Matthew Hedgespeth, junior Jacob Hiller and senior Amber Green.

  • CES hosts parent involvement day

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School recently hosted a National African American Parent Involvement Day event at its school on the former Durham High campus.

    More than 80 adults attended and had a meal with their children who attend CES.

    Each family that attended received a free book from the school's Family Resources and Youth Services Center.

  • CES hosts Cultural Awareness Day

     

    Campbellsville Elementary School third graders recently learned about other cultures on Cultural Awareness Day.

    Students researched countries from around the world and went to each classroom and spoke to their classmates about that country.

    They dressed up in hats, dresses and shoes from the countries. Every student in the school received a passport with stickers for each country being shared about during the event.

    Kimberly Clark, a Campbellsville University student teacher, and Patty Haley hosted the event.

    Tuesday - Chicken nachos, tortilla chips, Spanish rice, refried beans, mandarin oranges and milk.

    Wednesday - Lasagna, garden salad with tomatoes, peas and carrots, garlic bread, sidekick smoothies, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, green beans, diced pears, fruit and milk.
