  • CU students attend presidential inauguration

    January 2013 will mark a month that many Campbellsville University students will remember for a long time.

    CU made it possible for three groups of students to attend President Barack Obama's second inauguration ceremony.

    Students attending were from three university clubs, including Phi Alpha Theta history honor society, the Sociology Club and the Political Science Club.

  • TCES student wins second place in MLK contest

     

    Bella Long, a third-grade student at Taylor County Elementary School, recently won second place in the state's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Moving Beyond the Dream visual arts contest.

    Long was chosen from more than 1,000 entries.

    She took part in a celebration Jan. 17 at the Kentucky Historical Society's Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.

    The contest theme was "Moving Beyond the Dream to Brighten the Future."

    Taylor County Elementary School recently announced its Good Deed winners for the week of Jan. 28.

    Tuesday - Grilled chicken wrap with ranch dressing and romaine lettuce, green beans, seasoned carrots, pineapple with bananas and milk.

    Wednesday - Hamburger on bun with lettuce, onion and tomato, baked fries, diced pears, fruit and milk.

    Thursday - Cheese pizza, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, Scooby snacks, fruit and milk.

    Friday - Taco soup, tortilla chips, broccoli with ranch dressing, fruit juicee, fruit and milk.

  • TCMS wins at Governor's Cup

     

    Taylor County Middle School competed in district Governor's Cup competition on Saturday, Jan. 19, hosted by Green County Middle School. TCMS brought home the first place trophy along with several individual and team awards.

    Lexi Raikes received first place in composition and Elizabeth Rogers received fifth. Rogers also received first place in science.

    Molly Sullivan received first place in arts and humanities.

    Andie Woodcox received fourth place in social studies.
