  • KCA students win spelling bee

     

    Kentucky Christian Academy students recently competed in a spelling bee. Winners participated in regional competition in Leitchfield on Feb. 15.

  • Resident named vice chair of education council

     

    Dan Flanagan of Campbellsville was re-elected vice chair and Pam Miller of Lexington was re-elected to a second term as chair of the Council on Postsecondary Education recently. The Council is the state's higher education and adult education coordinating agency.

    Flanagan, who was appointed to the Council in 2005, operates a large farming business. He formerly served as the deputy commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, had several positions at Campbellsville University and is a retired pastor.

  • TCES kindergarten registration is March 25, 26

    Taylor County Elementary School kindergarten registration has been planned for Monday, March 25, and Tuesday, March 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    Those who want to attend should call for an appointment. Items required for registration include a certified birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security card, two forms for proof of residence, physical, eye exam and dental screening records.

    Some records should be completed and submitted to the school's guidance office no later than July 30.

  • Local attends preachers’ festival

     

    Five Campbellsville University students, one of whom is from Campbellsville, recently attended the Academy of Preachers Festival of Young Preachers in January.

    Greater Campbellsville United recently honored Taylor County Elementary School third-grade student Arabella Long for winning second place in the state's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Moving Behind the Dream" visual art contest.

    Campbellsville University students have been named to Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, according to an announcement from Dr. Frank Cheatham, senior vice president for academic affairs at Campbellsville University.

    Your workplace is like a second home to you. You have familiar faces and familiar surroundings that greet you each and every day of your workweek.

    Sitting here at my makeshift desk, surrounded by packed boxes, is a new experience. Having to go through boxes to find my craft supplies for programs is very hard.

  • TCMS places fourth at regional governor’s cup

     

    Taylor County Middle School's quick recall team placed fourth at regional governor's cup competition on Feb. 4. TCMS hosted the competition.

    Weston Young finished as a runner-up in math and Lexi Raikes finished third in composition.
