The Central Kentucky News-Journal editorial staff won seven awards at the annual Landmark Community Newspapers Inc. editorial awards luncheon last Friday.

The awards presentation followed the annual LCNI advertising/editorial meeting held this year at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville.

The contest is a competition between more than 55 LCNI newspapers across the country - including dailies, weeklies and multi-weeklies. The News-Journal competes in the multi-weekly category.

Editor Rebecca Cassell won a first-place award for Best Front Page Design.

Mike Ware of Jessie Insurance Agency in Campbellsville recently became a member of a select group of State Auto independent agents - PaceSetter agents.

"The goal of our year-long PaceSetter program is to form a sales/marketing partnership with each agent to improve service to all our customers," said chairman/CEO Robert Restrepo.

In the coming months, State Auto sales personnel will work closely with PaceSetter agents like Ware in forming a true sales alliance and providing professional assistance and feedback, as necessary.

Burton's Nursery & Garden Center of Campbellsville has enrolled in the 2008 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Roadside Farm Market Program. This is Burton's 12th year with the program. A total of 82 markets have enrolled in this year's program.
