  • Sanders presents arthritis symposium

    Dr. Richard A. Sanders, board certified orthopedic surgeon, spoke to a crowd of about 85 individuals at the May 22 educational program titled "Arthritis, Tendonitis and Bursitis."

    The program was at the Taylor County Extension Office with the Taylor County Extension Homemakers providing refreshments. The event also offered informational booths and screenings by TRH Rehab Services, TRH Home Health & TRH Massage Therapy. The program was sponsored by Genzyme, Humana, GlaxoSmithKline, Advanced Technologies & DeRoyal.

  • Suzanne Sowards-Hamm named directors of business development

    A former Campbellsville woman has joined n-tara interactive, an award-winning interactive agency serving the Fortune 1000 based in Johnson City, Tenn.

    Suzanne Sowards-Hamm and Tim Story recently joined the company as directors of business development. Sowards-Hamm is formerly from Campbellsville.

    They will be responsible for developing and managing new client relationships and consulting with customers to develop best-in-class interactive solutions.

  • CU honors faculty, staff at 25th annual ceremony

    Campbellsville University honored its faculty and staff with an annual recognition service.

    Dr. Michael V. Carter, president of CU, congratulated faculty and staff on a successful 2007-2008 academic year. He said Campbellsville University's mission calls for everyone to work together, and faculty and staff did stay together when faced with some untimely deaths on campus during the year.

    "It's been a year of contrasts - a year of joy and sadness and loss," he said.

    He thanked everyone for their "character, love and compassion."

    The following people from Taylor Regional Hospital attended the 27th annual Kentucky Nurse Banquet in Louisville on May 9:

    Peggy Hatton, Sam Hedgespeth, Nichole Gwilliam, Teresa Turner, Linda Baker, Connie Warner, Ailene Foster, Wendy Bryant, Maria Ford, Dana Garrett, Lorie Richerson, Pam Rogers, Dana Caulk, and Lee Ann Muncie.

    Hatton, Gwilliam, Ford, Foster, Bryant and Caulk were nominated and recognized for nursing excellence. Each received a framed certificate and a pin.

  • Taylor County Chiropractic raising money for Relay for Life

    Taylor County Chiropractic will be selling Lance Armstrong Livestrong bracelets to raise money for Relay for Life.

    The bracelets cost $3 and all proceeds go to Relay for Life.

    For a $3 donation receive a Relay for Life braclet, Bio-Freeze sample, and a free pre-walk computerized foot scan.

    Taylor County Chiropractic is located at 100 Greenbriar Drive and is open Monday through Thursday.

    Dr. Janna Gresham is Relay's corporate fundraising chair.

  • Bryant wins truck-driving competition

    Con-way Freight driver Barry Bryant recently won first place in his division at the Kentucky Truck Driving Championship on May 16-17 at Papa John's Stadium in Louisville.

    Bryant, who is based out of the Campbellsville Con-way Freight terminal, placed first in the 3-axle division.

    This was Bryant's third time taking part in the competition. He also won top honors in 2006. Bryant will move on to compete in the National Truck Driving Championships, which will take place Aug. 19-23 in Houston.

    He has worked as a professional truck driver for Con-way Freight since 1999.

  • Kentucky Organ Affiliates display memorial quilt at TRH

    The Donor Family Memorial Quilt will be on display in the lobby of Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville on Tuesday, June 3.

    Viewing hours are 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at a display in the lobby, near the gift shop.

    This quilt memorializes those people who offered the Gift of Life to others through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. Today, in the United States alone, more than 98,000 people are on the waiting list for a life saving organ transplant. Of those people, more than 650 are residents of the State of Kentucky. Some of them may live in our own community.

  • CU's Clay Hill Memorial Forest supporters honored

    Campbellsville University recognized corporate sponsors and volunteers who help to keep Clay Hill Memorial Forest growing with a donor appreciation event recently.

    Special guests were Jan Rose Coleman, Shiela Newcomb and Jacki Bennett representing management of E.ON U.S., which has provided for the new alternative energy center and teacher sponsorship.

  • TRH names Nurse of the Year and Nurse Extender of the Year

    Taylor Regional Hospital had its annual Nurse of the Year and Nurse Extender of the Year Awards on May 5 in conjunction with the Blessing of the Hands Ceremony. The Nurse of the Year and Nurse Extender of the Year are chosen by their peers.

    The Nurse of the Year is Nichole Gwilliam. Other nominees were: Erin Albertson, RN; and Kim Bowman, RN.

    Gwilliam has been a team member at TRH since 2007 and is a charge nurse. She and her husband Will have two children, Alaina and David.

  • Taylor Regional Hospital supports backpack programs

    Taylor Regional Hospital had a basket auction fundraiser for the backpack programs at Taylor County, Campbellsville and Green County school systems.

    The Campbellsville/Taylor County programs received $1,375.18. Darlene Humphress is pictured with Andrea Settle, HR director at TRH.

    The Green County Backpack Program received $687.59. The Green County program is administered by Greensburg United Methodist Church. Pictured is Dale Curry, pastor of GUMC, and Linda Marcum, unit secretary/monitor tech in the ICU at TRH.
