  • Brummett receives Conway service award

     

    Larry Brummett has received a 10-year service award with Conway Freight. Brummett is a driver sales representative at the Campbellsville location.

    Dale Boils has joined Boils Realty as a sales associate and apprentice auctioneer.

  • Photo contest announced

    An amateur photography contest has been announced, which features a $100 prize.

    Categories include people, animals, nature and street scenes. There is an entry fee of $5. If interested, send a 4x6 photo with name, phone number, address and category to James Ward at 220 Hamilton Road, Campbellsville, Ky., 42718. The contest ends July 1.

  • Jewell joins CKNJ staff

     

    Mary Beth Jewell has joined the Central Kentucky News-Journal staff as an inside advertising sales representative/receptionist.

    A 2006 graduate of Hart County High School, Jewell graduated from Lindsey Wilson College in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in communication and a minor in journalism.

    In her free time, Jewell enjoys painting and writing.

  • Smoot is new member of the American Angus Association

    Abigal Smoot of Campbellsville is a new junior member of the American Angus Association, according to Bryce Schumann, CEO of the national organization with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Mo.

    Junior members of the association are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.

  • Durham added to Colton's training team

     

    Holly Durham was recently added to the Colton's Restaurant Group New Store Training Team. Durham just returned from Rolla, Mo., where she helped open a new store during a three-week stay. Members of the Colton's training team are selected from all the Colton's stores and only the best employees are chosen for the team.

  • Poseys are new Snappy Tomato owners

     

    Leona and Alan Posey are the new owners of Snappy Tomato, which is located at 117 E. Main St. in Campbellsville. Kid's night is every Monday night. Two children eat free with one paying adult. Snappy Tomato features a fresh, all-you-can-eat buffet, pizzas made to order and delivery. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Phillips Lanes Restaurant featuring Broken "O" Bar-B-Que

     

    Phillips Lanes Restaurant has added barbecue to the menu with the addition of Broken "O" Bar-B-Que.

    New items include pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, BBQ beef brisket sandwiches, BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches and half-pound bowling ball burgers. Catering for any size group is available.

    Open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jerry and Tammy Owen took over the restaurant on Jan. 1. The restaurant has 13 employees.
